Chapter 109: Communicating with Sophia

“I’ve been trapped in this strange space for so many years and have tried countless times. The energy outside is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I believe it’s a higher-level form of energy. Our scientists once speculated that energy exists in different tiers: electricity and nuclear power are the lowest levels, while our spiritual energy is considered a more advanced form. Inside this space, I can’t receive any energy replenishment—there is no matter here, and I cannot absorb or utilize the energy from the outer energy layers. At first, I experimented by sending probes from the planetary base into the outer energy layers, but they were all blocked and bounced back. No matter how much power I applied, nothing passed through. Later, I discovered that my spiritual energy could easily penetrate the external energy layers, but I cannot exist independently without the auxiliary device. So, I made a communicator and sent it outside the energy layer. Somehow, a person named Xuan Yi, the Immortal Emperor, got hold of it. From sensing through the communicator, his power is so overwhelming that I chose not to contact him. Eventually, the communicator became embedded within you.”
“Where exactly is this space, and why is the entrance located in my sea of consciousness?” Wei Hua asked.
“To be honest, I don’t know either! I have no idea where this strange space actually is, nor why the entrance is inside your sea of consciousness. I only know that the entrance appeared the first time the communicator transmitted your spiritual energy and the electricity you absorbed from outside. Moreover, inside this space, I can convert energy into matter. The planetary fortress was severely damaged, and over the years, most of the electricity you absorbed was converted by me into metal to repair it. But your absorption rate is too slow and the amount too small. I need much more energy. Given your physical condition, don’t worry about your spiritual power harming your body. I’ve already thought about that. If your body can’t handle it, I’ll strengthen it for you,” Sophia said bluntly.
“That sounds easy for you to say! How am I supposed to absorb it? Where do I go to absorb it? You have to understand, in my world, electricity is the energy everyone needs. If I absorb too much, it will cause trouble for others—big trouble. So I can only absorb slowly. Even the current amount is hard enough,” Wei Hua replied, now realizing that most of the electricity he absorbed was used by this woman.
“Can’t you produce electricity yourself?” Sophia asked.
“Do you want me to build a large power plant just to supply electricity to myself, without providing any to others? That would be obvious to everyone. Do you want me to be caught and locked up for research?” Wei Hua countered.
“Ah? Does such a thing really happen in your world? But you don’t need to build a power plant just to generate electricity. Don’t you have small generators or something?”
“We do! Diesel generators. But their power is too low—only a few thousand watts. What can you do with that?”
“Looks like your world’s technology isn’t very advanced! Here, I’ll provide you with the plans for a small nuclear fusion generator. Once you get out, you can build one yourself according to the blueprints, and it will supply you with ample electricity. These generators are compact enough to keep at home, and they use deuterium, which should be easy to obtain.” Sophia offered the idea.
Wei Hua thought it was a good suggestion. Even in the 21st century, no country had mastered nuclear fusion generators; this was technology far beyond their current level.
Just as Sophia finished speaking, a robot entered the hall and handed Wei Hua a device resembling a digital watch. Wei Hua took it, examined it briefly, then looked up at Sophia.
“This is a small auxiliary device from our world, typically used by children. It operates via voice input and employs holographic projection technology—no screen needed. Most importantly, it’s shockproof and impact-resistant, so it won’t break. Materials here are scarce, so this is repurposed junk. The nuclear fusion generator’s blueprints are stored inside. You can review them when you get back. Well, you’ve been here long enough. We’ll continue our conversation tomorrow. Go back now!” Sophia urged Wei Hua to leave.
“How do I go back? Didn’t you say you can’t take anything out of here?” Wei Hua asked.
“Go back the way you came! Who said you can’t take things out? You just haven’t found the right method. Otherwise, how did I send the communicator out? Wrap it with your spiritual energy, especially when passing through the outer energy layers. Otherwise, you won’t be able to bring it out,” Sophia explained.
After she finished, a force pushed Wei Hua out of the hall. Soon, he reappeared at the black hole’s entrance. Wei Hua wrapped the small auxiliary device Sophia gave him in his spiritual energy and easily passed through the energy layers. But when he returned to his sea of consciousness, the auxiliary device vanished, startling him awake.
With a thud, Wei Hua fell back onto his bed, then sat up and glanced at the clock on his bedside—it was already 4 a.m. He immediately thought of the device Sophia had given him. As he prepared to lie down and return to sleep before going back to see Sophia, he noticed the small auxiliary device on his bed.
He picked it up and examined it carefully. It looked like an ordinary digital watch. Recalling Sophia’s words, he said aloud, “Display data!”
A beam of light shot from the device, projecting a large screen on the floor covered in dense text. Wei Hua began to study it. The blueprints were detailed and comprehensive. It took him over five hours to finish reading all of them. But after finishing, he gritted his teeth. The more than thirty materials required to build the nuclear fusion reactor’s chamber were all unfamiliar to him, let alone how to process them.
