As soon as Ye Chen entered, the atmosphere instantly became tense again. Originally, Mouse and Shrimp had already put everyone on alert. Now that Ye Chen, the real deal, had arrived, all eyes turned to him as everyone stood up in unison. The bodyguards who had been lounging on the desks grabbed their batons and jumped down, forming a group that seemed once more centered around Captain Cao.

Ye Chen felt nothing but disdain for Captain Cao and Deputy Captain Jin's petty tricks. It was nothing more than an attempt to use their past glory to inspire admiration among the bodyguards and thus establish their authority.

"Ye Chen, you dare to show up!" Deputy Captain Jin gritted his teeth.

"Oh? So this is your home, is it?" Ye Chen strode in, with Mouse and Shrimp instantly taking their positions behind him, flanking him and locking gazes with the others. Without missing a beat, Ye Chen walked further in, cast a glance at Captain Cao's flight uniform draped over the desk, and said with a smile, "That uniform is quite stylish, isn’t it?"

"Hmph, naturally—it’s Captain Cao’s badge of honor!" Deputy Captain Jin snorted coldly. "Someone like you, without any military experience, doesn’t deserve to be in the same league as Captain Cao!"

"Oh?" Ye Chen paused, curiosity piqued. "Is it expensive? Last time I bought one on Taobao, cost me over two hundred yuan. Tsk tsk… Captain Cao must be quite the wealthy man!"

Mouse and Shrimp burst out laughing, and Captain Cao’s face darkened. Ye Chen, unfazed, reached out and fiddled with the uniform. "It’s polyester, not the pure cotton, sweat-wicking, breathable, heat-insulating air force gear. Oh, there’s even a tag! Captain Cao, looks like I was mistaken—you didn’t buy it on Taobao, you got it from JD Mall!"

Captain Cao’s face flushed bright red. Damn, he hadn’t expected that his carefully planned scheme would be torn apart so easily by this brat. Deputy Captain Jin also looked rather embarrassed.

Just a couple days ago, Deputy Captain Jin had rushed to the hospital to fill Captain Cao in on the situation at the bodyguard department. The gist was: if Captain Cao didn’t return soon, the whole department might start following Ye Chen. That couldn’t be allowed. So, after some discussion, the two devised a plan to use the soldiers’ respect for strength to pull the bodyguards back into their fold. Thus, they came up with this trick—one posing as an air force sergeant trained at the Soviet Joint Military Academy, the other as a member of the National Special Operations Team who had completed extraordinary missions in the Golden Triangle!

But fate has its own designs, and Ye Chen exposed them in the blink of an eye.

"Boss, these two really have no shame!" Mouse laughed. "I knew it—an airman supposedly graduated from the Joint Military Academy with such poor skills? And this guy, claiming to have operated in the Golden Triangle… With that bit of nonsense, he’d never survive over there."

Faced with Mouse’s sarcastic ridicule, Captain Cao and Deputy Captain Jin ground their teeth in frustration.

"Ye Chen…"

A voice came from the doorway—Lin Ziwen’s. Ye Chen poked his head out and asked, "Assistant Lin, what is it?"

"What’s going on with you?" Lin Ziwen frowned. "President Li wants you to clock in and go to her office. You’ve been here for over forty minutes already. She has a meeting at ten. Hurry up!"

"Alright, alright!" Ye Chen nodded quickly and followed Lin Ziwen to the elevator.

Reaching the twentieth floor, they entered the president’s office. Li Ruo was calmly reviewing documents, her focus so intense that she radiated an alluring aura with every movement. Even as Lin Ziwen and Ye Chen entered, Li Ruo didn’t break her concentration.

"President Li, Ye Chen is here," Lin Ziwen whispered.

"Oh!" Li Ruo finally put down her pen and papers, looking up at Ye Chen, who was grinning cheekily at her. Li Ruo’s brows furrowed—this guy always wore that playful expression. It’d be so much better if he could show the same dedication he did during his nighttime racing. At least then, she wouldn’t find him so irritating, right? She glanced at Ye Chen and said, "Sit down."

With that, Li Ruo rose and took a seat on the sofa in her office. Ye Chen sat opposite her, and after tidying up the desk, Lin Ziwen respectfully brewed tea for Ye Chen and stood quietly behind Li Ruo.

"I heard you aren’t getting along with your colleagues in the bodyguard unit?" Li Ruo looked up at Ye Chen.

"Not at all, everything’s great!" Ye Chen chuckled. "We in the security department are united and friendly, we firmly support your leadership, and obey your commands. If you point south, we’d never dare go north. If you go east, we’d never dare head west."

Li Ruo couldn’t help but laugh, covering her lips as her eyes sparkled with delight. Internally, she thought: this guy is slick-tongued, but he’s rather likable—at least being around him brings her happiness, doesn’t it? Li Ruo cleared her throat and tried to compose herself, saying with a stern face, "Ye Chen, after careful consideration and discussion with the board, we’ve decided to transfer you to another department!"

"What?" Ye Chen was stunned. "President Li, really? I feel great in the security department, why transfer me?"

"Firstly, the company must consider the bigger picture; secondly, we want to put good talent to best use." Li Ruo looked at Ye Chen and said, "From the way you managed to recover that payment from Venus Decoration Company, it’s clear you have strong public relations and business skills. So, the company plans to move you to the business department as a supervisor."

"No way!" Ye Chen pulled a face. "I’ve barely been here a month and you’re transferring me already. Will my salary be calculated as a bodyguard, or as a business supervisor?"

"So that’s what you’re worried about?" Li Ruo was taken aback.

"Of course. Bodyguards earn ten thousand a month, but business supervisors only get five thousand." Ye Chen looked at Li Ruo with a pitiful expression. "President Li, don’t shortchange me!"

Li Ruo laughed. "You fool, the supervisor base salary is five thousand, but with allowances and benefits it’s at least seven thousand. Don’t you have confidence you can earn at least three thousand in commissions?"

"Well…" Ye Chen’s eyes rolled, then he grinned. "Alright, but pay me this month’s bodyguard salary first—ten thousand, not a cent less!"

"Miser!" Li Ruo glared at him. "You bought a thirty-million villa and still care about ten thousand? I’ve never seen anyone so stingy!"

"Wait…" Ye Chen called out.

"What now? Don’t tell me you’re refusing?" Li Ruo was surprised.

"No!" Ye Chen shook his head. "You haven’t told me about what you promised last night!"

Lin Ziwen was startled—did President Li spend last night with Ye Chen? She looked at Li Ruo in astonishment. Li Ruo blushed, thinking Ye Chen was asking for the kiss she promised. She hurriedly told Lin Ziwen, "Ziwen, step outside."

"Yes!" As an outstanding assistant, Lin Ziwen understood bounds perfectly. What should be known is never forgotten, and what shouldn’t be known is never learned.

"You scoundrel, didn’t I give you that kiss last night?" Li Ruo said angrily, her bright eyes glaring at Ye Chen.

"Huh?" Ye Chen’s mouth dropped open, but he decided to play along. "Heh, you call that a kiss? I could give ten sows that kind of kiss!"

"Hmph, close your eyes!" Li Ruo snorted.

Ye Chen quickly shut his eyes, his heart racing. Damn, was the beautiful president about to kiss him? Li Ruo hesitated a moment, then scooted over, her shapely figure moving toward Ye Chen. Her gaze flickered with complex emotions, then she leaned in and lightly kissed his cheek. Instantly, Li Ruo’s face flushed, the blush spreading from her cheeks to her ears.

Ye Chen, eyes closed, felt the faint fragrance from Li Ruo’s body approaching, followed by her warm lips pressed against his cheek. He almost lost control, nearly pulling Li Ruo into his arms for a passionate embrace.

"So good…" Ye Chen couldn’t help but sigh.

"Rogue!" Li Ruo glared at him. "If you dare tell anyone about this, I swear I’ll kill you!"

"Don’t worry, I won’t breathe a word!" Ye Chen touched his cheek. Damn, a beauty’s kiss is magical—he could go a month without washing his face now. Ye Chen grinned: "President Li, actually, what I wanted to say was, last night you promised to tell me about that thirty million."

"You…" Li Ruo was taken aback. "You weren’t asking for the reward?"
