Chapter 124: The Overlord Is No Flower

The two men traded words back and forth, barely acknowledging the presence of Tyrant Liu before them. He was treated as though he were nothing more than a bystander.
“All right, stop arguing!” Ye Chen waved a hand. “Deal with what’s in front of us first!”
“Got it!” Rat immediately stepped forward. He was thin and small, looking like a child standing before Tyrant Liu. Yet the murderous aura radiating from him was enough to make anyone take him seriously. Rat bared his teeth in a grin.
“Big Brother, how do you want him to die? Horizontally or vertically?”
His words left everyone staring in stunned silence.
“Big Brother, let me handle it!” Big Shrimp stepped forward before anyone else could. “Big Brother, should I cut him into three pieces or four? I’ll make sure he dies in agony. I guarantee he’ll regret ever being born into this world!”
The prisoners around them widened their eyes.
What the hell? Did these two idiots really have no idea how formidable Tyrant Liu was?
In this prison, Tyrant Liu was the sort of man who could take on dozens of people by himself. Throughout southeastern China, legends about him had circulated for years. This notorious bandit had dominated three provinces and six cities, carrying more than a dozen lives on his back and assaulting over seventy young women. In the end, it had taken more than a hundred police officers from six cities working together to capture the monstrous criminal.
But after entering prison, Tyrant Liu had begun building his own kingdom. A man accustomed to ruling through fear had just been humiliated in public. Naturally, he was furious. He glared at the two men.
“You two come at me together. That’ll save me the trouble of dealing with you one at a time.”
“Haha…” Rat immediately burst out laughing. “With skills like yours, you’re not worthy of both of us attacking you together. Big Shrimp, this one’s yours!”
“Hmph. It should have been this way from the start!”
Big Shrimp snorted and charged at Tyrant Liu, both fists clenched. Tyrant Liu gave a cold snort and assumed a fighting stance. Big Shrimp’s attack was far too straightforward. In Tyrant Liu’s eyes, his movements were riddled with openings. He intended to teach the man a brutal lesson, then deal properly with Ye Chen after disposing of these two insignificant upstarts.
However, just as Tyrant Liu thought one punch would send Big Shrimp sprawling, Big Shrimp’s figure suddenly blurred. He twisted aside and dodged the blow.
Tyrant Liu sucked in a sharp breath. How strange! The man had actually managed to change the direction of his body at such a critical moment. He was certainly no ordinary thug.
While Tyrant Liu was still stunned, Big Shrimp’s right hand clamped around his throat like an iron vise. Narrowing his eyes, Big Shrimp gave a cold laugh.
“Make one wrong move, and I’ll cut off your breath immediately.”
“You bastard!”
Tyrant Liu flew into a rage and swung one hand. His pride would never allow him to lose to a single move, so he struck back without hesitation.
But Big Shrimp gave him no opportunity at all. Anyone who had survived the Golden Triangle was like a wolf roaming the wilderness—he would never give his opponent the chance to retaliate.
Big Shrimp tightened his grip around Tyrant Liu’s throat and slammed him hard against a pillar.
Boom!
The impact of Tyrant Liu’s back against the pillar echoed through the hall. Nearly everyone in the dining room heard the deafening crash.
“What are you doing? What are you doing?”
The prison guards suddenly rushed over with batons in hand, each of them looking vicious. Rat gave a cold laugh.
“These guards are clearly in on it. When Tyrant Liu was bullying Big Brother just now, they didn’t lift a finger. But the moment Tyrant Liu gets beaten, they come running.”

“These guards are all on Tyrant Liu’s side!”
Liu Three had noticed that Ye Chen’s group seemed to have gained the upper hand, and his courage grew slightly. He hurried over and spoke to Rat.
“Normally, Tyrant Liu and those guards act like brothers. Whatever Tyrant Liu asks for, they do.”
“Then let’s turn the tables completely this time.”
Ye Chen gave a cold smile. He climbed onto a dining table and shouted, “Brothers, Tyrant Liu has bullied us until we could barely hold our heads up! Today is the day we rise! The guards and Tyrant Liu are all working together. Let’s charge them, overthrow Tyrant Liu, and become the true masters of this prison!”
Ye Chen’s words were powerful and enticing. Every man there had suffered Tyrant Liu’s abuse when he first entered prison. The prisoners were also forced to take turns working for him. When they finished, they had to bathe him, scrub his back, empty his chamber pot, and clean it afterward.
They had all come to hate him with a passion.
Now that someone had risen to rally them, the response was nearly unanimous.
“Damn it, let’s do it! I’ve had enough of that bastard Tyrant Liu!”
“Right! Let’s overthrow Tyrant Liu together!”
Several men stepped forward. Moments later, the wave of rebellion spread irresistibly through the entire prison.
The dining hall erupted into chaos. The prisoners grabbed their meal trays or hoisted benches over their shoulders and charged at Tyrant Liu. He was utterly stunned. These men, usually as docile as lambs, had suddenly unleashed astonishing strength.
The guards were frightened as well. They had barely taken two steps before stopping. With only a dozen or so guards present, they truly had little chance against several hundred prisoners.
“This is bad! The prisoners are rioting! Request immediate assistance!”
A guard grabbed his radio and shouted frantically, “The prisoners in Cell Block One are rioting! Request backup! Send backup immediately!”
In an instant, the alert level throughout Jianghuai City Prison was raised to Level Three, with the possibility of escalating even further. Large numbers of fully armed guards came sprinting toward the dining hall from every direction.
They carried riot shields and high-voltage batons. One of them raised a loudspeaker and shouted, “Attention, everyone! Put your hands behind your heads and kneel on the floor immediately, or you will all be shocked!”
“To hell with them! Let’s fight!”
The prisoners’ rage had already been ignited. In their eyes, the guards and Tyrant Liu were all part of the same gang. When Tyrant Liu bullied them day after day, the guards had done nothing. But now that Tyrant Liu was being attacked, these bastards had suddenly appeared.
The prisoners brandished whatever weapons they had and hurled themselves at the guards.
“Rat, Big Shrimp—lead the charge!”
Ye Chen immediately took command. Rat and Big Shrimp split into two groups and charged forward.
The guards held their ground, each bracing a riot shield in front of himself to block the prisoners and prevent them from escaping—or from reaching the guards.
Wave after wave of prisoners slammed into the defensive line, but they could not break through the shields.
Then Rat and Big Shrimp entered the fray. With their bare fists, they smashed apart the shields held by two guards. The supposedly reinforced shields were actually shattered by nothing more than flesh and bone.
The guards’ defensive line instantly weakened.
The prisoners seized the opportunity and shouted, “Brothers, our chance has come!”
“Roar!”
The prisoners howled in fury. They raised their fists, metal trays, and benches, bringing them down upon the guards with savage force.
The guards could no longer wait for orders. They swung their high-voltage batons directly at the prisoners.
The two sides immediately became locked in a vicious struggle. One group of prisoners would fall, only for those behind them to surge forward. But when a guard went down, no one replaced him. There were only so many guards, and no matter how heavily armed they were, they could not withstand the prisoners’ furious fists—and their sharp teeth.
“Damn it, don’t fight me for that shield! It’s mine!”

“Damn you! I got to it first!”
The prisoners began snatching the guards’ weapons and shields. The guards looked imposing, but they could not withstand a few punches and kicks from the enraged prisoners.
The entire prison dining hall descended into utter chaos, packed with bodies pushing against bodies.
“Tweet, tweet!”
A sharp whistle rang out. More than a dozen guards carrying rifles stormed into the hall. A moment later, gunshots cracked through the air.
The prisoners immediately dropped whatever they were holding and knelt with their hands clasped behind their heads.
A man wearing sunglasses and a prison guard’s uniform walked in with a cigar between his teeth. Anyone unfamiliar with the prison might have assumed he was the warden.
But when Tyrant Liu hurried over like a dog, bowing and scraping as he lowered his voice and called out, “Brother Bold,” everyone understood.
Tyrant Liu was not the true boss of this prison.
The real leader was this man.
What shocked everyone was that he was dressed as a prison guard.
Bold Zhang glanced at Tyrant Liu and spoke coldly.
“You good-for-nothing. You couldn’t even handle two men, and you caused this much trouble.”
“Yes, yes!”
Tyrant Liu nodded hurriedly.
“So you’re Ye Chen.”
Bold Zhang kept his left hand in his pocket and held the cigar in his right as he walked slowly toward Ye Chen.
“And you’re Bold Zhang?”
Ye Chen raised his eyes, his manner equally cold and arrogant.
Bold Zhang grinned.
“You’ve got character. I like you.”
“Sorry. I’m not interested in you.”
Ye Chen shook his head. Big Shrimp and Rat had already withdrawn from the crowd and now stood shoulder to shoulder behind him.
Ye Chen’s presence was imposing, in no way inferior to Bold Zhang’s. The fact that Bold Zhang could openly lead so many guards meant he must have a close relationship with the warden.
But Ye Chen was not afraid.
The prisoners in the cell block watched the scene with curiosity. Most of them were still unfamiliar with Bold Zhang.
“Ye Chen, how about we work together?” Bold Zhang suddenly smiled around his cigar.
“We follow different paths and have nothing to say to each other,” Ye Chen replied. “I don’t like dancing with wolves.”
“Haha…”
Bold Zhang threw back his head and laughed.
“Thank you for comparing me to a wolf. I’m honored. I happen to love that animal. Wolves are skilled hunters capable of killing anything. Whether they act alone or as a pack, almost nothing can stand against them wherever they go.”
Ye Chen folded his arms and looked at Bold Zhang without saying a word.
