Boom...

Ye Chen’s right leg lashed out like a bolt of lightning, slamming into the two police officers. They were sent sprawling to the ground, tumbling several times before they could stabilize themselves. The remaining officers, seeing this, immediately surrounded him. Realizing the extent of Ye Chen’s rage, Zhang Yantong rushed forward, placing herself between him and the others. "Ye Chen, don't do anything reckless! If you do, you won't escape the sanctions of the law!"

"To hell with your law! I have never been a man constrained by it—not in the past, and certainly not now," Ye Chen retorted furiously. With a flying kick, an officer went down. He launched into a sprint, executing a series of combat strikes. Those officers were no match for him; in just a few movements, they were all left incapacitated, groaning on the ground. Zhang Yantong stood before Ye Chen, while behind her, Big Scar stood smoking a cigarette, looking incredibly smug.

"Ye Chen, do not test my bottom line!" Zhang Yantong gripped her fists, a flicker of complexity in her eyes. She did not want to be Ye Chen's enemy, but to uphold the image and dignity of the police, she was forced to stand against him.

"It is you who are testing my bottom line!" Ye Chen scoffed coldly. "Move aside. I am going to kill him today!"

"No!" Zhang Yantong gritted her teeth.

"Then don't blame me for being ruthless!" Ye Chen lunged forward, and Zhang Yantong immediately took a combat stance. They were soon locked in a struggle. Zhang Yantong had never sparred with Ye Chen before, and this fight made her instantly feel the pressure he exerted. Ye Chen’s strength and speed were overwhelming; she knew she wouldn't last long against him.

True to her fears, within minutes, Zhang Yantong found her throat locked in Ye Chen’s grip. He squeezed, teeth gritted, and hissed, "Woman, do not test my bottom line, or I will kill you too!"

"No... no..." Zhang Yantong gasped, her face flushing crimson. Ye Chen shoved her aside, and she collapsed to the ground.

Big Scar panicked. He had expected Zhang Yantong to defeat Ye Chen, but seeing her fail, he stammered, "Brother Ye, we... we can talk about this! Let’s talk it out!"

"Fine. Pay with your life!" Ye Chen gripped a machete.

Big Scar turned to run, but Ye Chen wouldn't let him escape so easily. With a single stride, he blocked the man's path. Despite Big Scar’s imposing, hulking frame and fierce appearance, he was fundamentally weak—hollowed out by a lifestyle of smoking, drinking, and debauchery.

Ye Chen raised the machete. The crowd watched in stunned silence. Jiang Wei swallowed hard, unable to believe Ye Chen would actually strike. While Big Scar was a villain, he was still protected by the law in such a situation. A sharp glint flashed in Da Hei’s eyes; he thought to himself, *If you strike him down, I am yours for life.* Feng Zhixiao and the others stared with wide eyes.

"No!" Zhang Yantong screamed at the top of her lungs.

*Squelch...*

The machete, gleaming in the sunlight, was brought down with brutal force. The razor-sharp blade cleanly severed Big Scar’s head, which rolled across the ground. A fountain of blood erupted from the headless corpse, drenching Ye Chen. He didn't even blink. In that instant, as the blood sprayed, Ye Chen felt as if he were possessed; he suddenly found that he enjoyed the scent of it.

Jiang Wei was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected Ye Chen to actually strike. This blow didn't just target Big Scar; it struck at Ye Chen’s own future. His subordinates whispered in shock, "Young Master Jiang, I never expected this guy, who usually acts so carefree, to be such a ruthless character when it counts!"

"Exactly. That’s why he’s a man worth following—a man worth dying for!" Jiang Wei had already decided his allegiance. Ye Chen’s willingness to risk everything for his brothers had deeply moved him. In this day and age, how many bosses would go this far for their men? Being Ye Chen’s subordinate was worth it.

Da Hei’s eyes burned with excitement. With that single blow, Ye Chen had shattered the dignity of the police and earned the absolute reverence of his men. With a boss like this, how could they not have a future? Feng Zhixiao looked at Ye Chen, his eyes moist. Not just him, but all the others were deeply moved. Brother Chen was a man of true conviction, willing to execute Big Scar right in front of the police for his brothers. They hadn't followed the wrong man.

"Well done! From now on, I’m with you!" Da Hei clenched his fists.

*Clang!*

Ye Chen dropped the machete, calmly pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and said to the ambulance crew with a light smile, "No need to save this one. Hurry up and tend to the injured!"

The medics finally snapped out of their shock, loaded the injured onto stretchers, and rushed them into the ambulance, speeding away from the scene. Zhang Yantong stood frozen. A nearby officer urged, "Captain Zhang, that man committed murder."

"Yes, he killed someone!" Zhang Yantong groaned in frustration, cursing herself for failing to stop him. Now, Ye Chen was a murderer, facing at least a charge of intentional homicide—a capital offense. She waved her hand, "Take him!"

"Yes!" The officers swarmed forward.

But the brothers wouldn't allow it. They immediately formed a wall around Ye Chen. Jiang Wei led a dozen men, and Da Hei brought his own group, shielding him. Jiang Wei bellowed, "Whoever dares to touch my boss, I’ll fight them to the death!"

"That’s right! I won’t let anyone lay a finger on Brother Ye!" Da Hei snarled, glaring at Zhang Yantong and her officers. Zhang Yantong hadn't expected things to spiral this far. She pleaded earnestly, "Do you think protecting him will keep you safe? He is a murderer now. If you harbor him, you are accessories. You will all face prison!"

"Damn it, do you think we’re afraid of you?" Jiang Wei scoffed. Zhang Yantong looked at him and said, "You might not be afraid, but what about your men? Don't they have futures? Think of them!"

"We aren't afraid!" Both Jiang Wei’s men and Feng Zhixiao’s subordinates shouted in unison. They were completely consumed by Ye Chen’s passion; they no longer knew the meaning of fear.

"You people..." Zhang Yantong frowned deeply. An officer grabbed his radio, "Headquarters, this is Squad One. We have a situation. Requesting backup..."

As the police called for reinforcements, Jiang Wei sneered, "You think you’re the only ones with backup?"

Jiang Wei immediately began making calls to summon his men, and Feng Zhixiao’s men did the same. The entire Jianghuai City was in an uproar. It was a small city, and news spread like wildfire. From the city center, waves of men began driving or taking taxis to the scene. Before the police reinforcements could even arrive, over a hundred men had already descended upon the spot—men who weren't just Jiang Wei’s or Feng Zhixiao’s, but others drawn by the chaos.

"This is getting fun. Going up against the police—interesting!"

"You said it! If I hadn't heard they were taking on the cops, I wouldn't have bothered to come!"

The crowd chattered, keeping Ye Chen surrounded. As his forces swelled and more vans arrived, the police remained eerily still.

Haozi and Daxia received the news and rushed over from the Tianya Group.

"Damn, who dares to mess with my boss!" Upon arriving, they were shocked by the sheer scale of the crowd. The police numbered barely twenty, while Ye Chen was surrounded by over two hundred men, with the numbers still climbing. Daxia gasped, "Holy hell, is the boss planning to swallow the police whole?"

"Heh, as long as the boss doesn't come out on the losing end, it's fine!" Haozi, dressed in a suit, toyed with a blood-red dagger. He squeezed through the crowd to where Ye Chen was sitting, smoking. He grinned, "Boss, you’re impressive! You called all these people here?"

"Get lost!" Ye Chen scoffed. "I slaughtered someone today."

"Oh, is that all? Just a slaughter, and you made such a fuss?" To Daxia and Haozi, Ye Chen killing someone was hardly an unusual occurrence. Was it worth such a spectacle? Ye Chen smiled, "The police want to arrest me."

"Damn, they wouldn't dare! I’ll kill every single one of them myself!" Daxia raged.

"I intend to surrender," Ye Chen said, stubbing out his cigarette on the ground. He counted them—five cigarette butts in total. He offered a faint smile. "This isn't the Golden Triangle. This is China, a country with the rule of law. Understand?"

"Then there's no need to surrender, Boss! If you really have to, let me do it instead!" Daxia stepped forward.

"No need. They aren't idiots; they know who did it," Ye Chen said with a calm smile. He stood up.

"Boss..." Daxia and Haozi tried to intervene, but Ye Chen gently pushed them aside. "Some things, once done, cannot be regretted. I believe that after this time, others won't dare to act so recklessly anymore!"
