Chapter 71: The Puppet That Transcends Time and Space (Part One)
Chapter 71: Puppets Across Time and Space (First Update)
The goblin shrieked, “Sir, please leave immediately! Security! Security!”
He was certain now that this so-called Gandalf was here to make trouble.
Luo Feng shook his head. In these days, no one believes the truth anymore. We really did pay, decades ago—the Old Buddha even paid for us.
Facing the approaching security squad, Luo Feng smiled calmly and unhurriedly. First, with a deft touch, he altered the goblin’s memories.
Though there were only a couple of them and not much conversation, in case some wizard tried a soul-search spell, or a sly detective noticed something amiss, he remained cautious.
Finally, Luo Feng left a trace of divine sense on the goblin; it would fade in a century. All this was accomplished in three seconds, just as the vigilant guards came charging in.
He drew his physical wand and cast his “physical magic”—knocking his way through without pause.
The goblin in charge of the vault was stunned. A wizard! This is a bloody wizard!
Luo Feng knocked out the last of the guards, then smiled at the goblins. “A wizard’s first law: survival. So, cast one light spell, put the rest into Constitution.”
Without delay, he dashed downwards. Robbing a bank was a skillful job; speed was essential.
His progress was unhindered.
Until he encountered a dragon—a mighty Western dragon.
Staring at the chained beast, Luo Feng strolled up and, with a few deft blows, shattered the centuries-old magical seals Gringotts had placed, as easily as breaking a twisted cruller. He smiled, “You’re free now.”
“Cause some chaos for me.”
The dragon stared, dumbfounded, at the centuries-old enchantments broken like twigs, then glanced at the smiling Luo Feng.
It gulped, nodded to its own nature, then spread its battered wings and charged out.
Best to pick the softest target—if it couldn’t take on this monster, it could certainly deal with those goblins, who had degenerated to serving wizards!
Luo Feng continued downward, collecting every vault along the way into the small dimension prepared on the puppet’s body.
The thrill of gathering gold was intoxicating—momentary joy became endless bliss as he stuffed vault after vault.
He had underestimated Gringotts’ reserves. He had brought ten spatial rings, and each was quickly filled.
One glance at his watch told him time was running out.
Luo Feng left decisively; if he tarried, the wizarding world would soon arrive. Losing the puppet was nothing, but the Galleons must not be lost.
No money to pay, but plenty of lives to spare.
With that in mind, Puppet No. 504 did not dash out of Gringotts, but found a deserted spot.
He produced Puppet No. 505, the goblin puppet, from his storage, and with a solemn expression said, “I’m entrusting the Galleons to you.”
Puppet No. 505 nodded gravely. “You can count on me.”
Puppet No. 504 quipped, “Talking to yourself—doesn’t that seem odd?”
No. 505 shook his head. “Even if someone discovers us talking to ourselves, no one will guess I’m a puppet. No one will realize we’re the same person.”
As Puppet No. 505 hurried off, Puppet No. 504 smiled faintly, crushed the watch into ashes, and scattered them with a breath.
This watch, though bought in Britain, had been used and carried his aura, posing a risk of exposure.
When Puppet No. 505 escaped through the main entrance, Puppet No. 504 slipped out the back, feigning caution.
Tick, tick…
As expected, Puppet No. 504 encountered a wizard along the rear escape route.
An elderly wizard with white hair and kindly eyes, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Gandalf, the puppet’s primary identity.
The old wizard blocked the door with a smile. “My ch—cough, I mean, my dear fellow, theft is a shameful act.”
Puppet No. 504 feigned shock. “How did you recognize me, Headmaster of Hogwarts?”
The old wizard smiled. “It’s quite simple. Gringotts has tracking threads. No thief of Galleons can escape them.”
Puppet No. 504 frowned. “I didn’t see any tracking threads.”
The old wizard explained patiently, “A tracking thread is—”
Before he could finish, a silent spell shot forth.
“Cunning old fox.”
Luo Feng narrowly dodged, cursing inwardly. Thankfully, he had expected such tricks.
Since the duel had begun, there was no need for more words.
The Headmaster trusted his own strength, confident he could capture Luo Feng and interrogate him at leisure.
Luo Feng exploited this, battling the old wizard to a standstill—a true clash of titans, drawing admiration from any onlooker.
Halfway through, the old wizard grew embarrassed—he’d yet to subdue his opponent, a blow to his pride.
He launched a powerful curse, then followed with two silent spells.
Luo Feng warily evaded the first, narrowly dodged the second, then, as expected, was struck by the third.
The old wizard smiled in triumph.
Luo Feng, too, let out a breath of relief. At last—Aguamenti.
A torrent of pure water washed over him. The second silent spell was Aguamenti, and Luo Feng used the water to cleanse his disguise, revealing the face of a Japanese ninja.
The battle ceased. The old wizard frowned, murmuring, “A Japanese?”
The puppet touched his own Japanese features, feigned horror, grabbed a cloth to cover his face, and fled without hesitation.
The old wizard tried desperately to stop him, but it was futile.
Puppet No. 504 was no match for the old wizard, but the wizard couldn’t stop him either.
Thus, the smoke of battle cleared.
The next day, the Western supernatural world was rocked by major news.
A Japanese, disguised as a wizard, had caused chaos in Gringotts and escaped with a fortune in Galleons.
The Eastern supernatural world was shocked upon hearing the news.
Luo Feng, elder of the Shangqing Sect, expressed his sympathy and condolences for those affected in the British wizarding world, and praised the large-scale rescue and reconstruction efforts that followed.
At the same time, he strongly condemned the Japanese supernatural community for disturbing the peace in the West, and firmly opposed such actions.
Half a year passed.
The uproar over the Japanese causing havoc in Gringotts gradually faded, and the supernatural world’s attention shifted to other news—the rise and fall of sects, the retirement of family heads, the tales of senior and junior disciples...
Time quietly erased all traces.
A year later, Luo Feng gazed at a puppet he had painstakingly crafted over half a month, nodding in satisfaction.
This puppet, built at great cost, was the ultimate—twenty layers of complexity.
He activated the Main God shard, opened the beam of light, and sent the puppet to World No. 2, using coordinates from the shard itself.
Moments later, Luo Feng’s eyes lit up in joy.
This time, the puppet’s transmission succeeded—and the connection was intact.
Across time and space, he had successfully operated the puppet!
