Chapter 121: The Human Race Is Playing an Enormous Game (Part Two)
The old wizard wore a bewildered expression. Clearly, he knew nothing about the Primordial World’s human race or Firecloud Cave.
Luo Feng furrowed his brows slightly, faintly forming a conjecture as his divine sense scanned the physical structure of the humans below.
A moment later, surprise appeared on Luo Feng’s face. He carefully examined the kneeling humans below.
These humans were not born with the innate Dao body of the Primordial World’s human race.
Their bodily structure was surprisingly similar to that of monkey demons. If one dared to take the speculation a step further, the humans of this world had evolved from monkey demons.
“No wonder the wizard said that the demon gods of this world refuse to take human form.”
Luo Feng murmured to himself.
As the saying went: dragons beget dragons, phoenixes beget phoenixes, and a mouse’s son knows how to burrow.
Genes were, by and large, determined by Heaven itself—something one was born with.
The dragon race was weak. In the eyes of the various Heavenly Venerates and great gods, they were nothing more than a dish.
Dragon liver and phoenix marrow were dishes, were they not?!
Yet a pureblood true dragon was born at the Earth Immortal realm, standing at the very summit of the demon race.
An ordinary demonic beast might struggle for an entire lifetime and still achieve no more than the Earth Immortal realm—or even remain only at the Primordial Spirit realm.
It would not even qualify to be made into a dish.
Thus, if one wished to survive in the Primordial World, being born into a good lineage was crucial. Having a cheat was the true path to supremacy.
Outside the great tribulations, having powerful backing would always outweigh effort, perseverance, talent, and fortune.
The Primordial World’s human race was the classic example of being born into an advantageous position.
As the official orthodox authority of the Three Realms, Heaven naturally maintained court historians. As the Star Lord of Water Virtue, Luo Feng had the authority to examine a wide range of records.
Reading history could enlighten one and reveal the mistakes of those who came before.
In simpler terms, it allowed one to learn which great powers were absolutely not to be offended.
After learning that Heaven possessed an institution of court historians, Luo Feng had sent two incarnations there to study day and night.
Among the records, there was a passage concerning the human race.
“The first generation of humans was created by the Empress Nuwa with Nine-Heavens Breath Soil and Three Luminaries Divine Water, mixed with essence blood and fashioned after Pangu’s transformation into the innate Dao body.”
Such a lineage was comparable to that of the weaker innate demon gods.
The humans of later generations lacked the profound foundation of their ancestors, but they inherited the most basic of innate gifts: the innate Dao body.
Within the Primordial World, the many great practitioners, Heavenly Venerates, Buddhas, Sages, and Saints all took human form.
It was not that they had cultivated themselves into human form by imitating humanity. Rather, they cultivated the innate Dao body, following the example of Pangu.

The Imperial Pangu had eighty-one transformations. Some were suited for battle, some for creation, and some for splitting open the heavens. Among them was a transformation known as the innate Dao body, the form most suitable for cultivation and enlightenment.
The innate Dao body was extraordinarily close to the human body.
The human spine contained twenty-four joints, corresponding to the twenty-four breaths of qi. The twelve sections of the pulmonary passages were known as the Twelve-Storied Tower. The navel was the Ancestral Palace; within it lay the Yellow Court. The heart was the Crimson Palace, the lungs the Flower Canopy, and beneath the tongue the Jade Pool. The soles of the feet were the Gushing Springs. One inch and three parts below the navel was Fengdu. The eighteen coils of the small intestine, with their rivers and mountains, were the Eighteen Hells. The water passage was the Earth Gate, and the grain passage the Nether Gate.
“Knocking the left teeth eight times produces the sound of a golden bell; knocking the right teeth eight times produces the sound of a jade chime; knocking the front teeth eight times produces the sound of a ritual drum. Together, the three sets of eight make twenty-four resonances, corresponding to the twenty-four breaths of qi.”
One should not say that the Empress Nuwa had left the human race without any foundation. The human body, human form, and innate Dao body were the greatest advantage the Empress had bestowed upon humanity.
This was also why Luo Feng had concluded that the humans of the Celestial Dawn Realm were not the humans of the Primordial World.
Their aptitude was simply too poor. They did not possess the innate Dao body at all!
Since they were not born with the innate Dao body, in the eyes of the native demon gods of this world, the humans here were no different from any other lowly race.
Naturally, they felt no shame in refusing to take human form.
Then the question arose: if the humans of the Celestial Dawn Realm were not part of the orthodox lineage of the Primordial World, where had they come from?
Natural evolution? What a joke. Tens of thousands of years ago, the Celestial Dawn Realm had been nothing but a wasteland. The timeline did not match.
Had some other great power created them? No one would dare. Who would dare divide the human race’s fortune? Which great power would dare do such a thing?
Did they truly think that the Holy Mother Nuwa, the Patriarch Lao Dan, the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors of Firecloud Cave, and all those Grand Unity Golden Immortals were fools?
His thoughts turned over and over. Suddenly, Luo Feng shuddered.
Sometimes, knowing too much and thinking too much was not a good thing.
He had a vague feeling that the human race was playing an enormous game.
“I would rather die than ask any further questions.”
“I came here to repair the water veins. I am an employee of Heaven.”
“I know nothing, and I dare ask nothing.”
Luo Feng remained expressionless, proceeding as though nothing had happened.
Once he finished cleaning up the mess in the Celestial Dawn Realm’s water essence, he would leave immediately.
Yes, everything appeared to be proceeding smoothly and uneventfully.
As for the rest, he would think about it after proving the Great Unity Dao.
“Rise, all of you.”
“This venerable one is not a member of the ancestral homeland’s human race. I am an orthodox god of Heaven—the Star Lord of Water Virtue in the North, charged with governing the water veins of the world and the water essence of the myriad realms.”
“Upon investigating this realm, I found the land suffering from a great drought, with all living beings facing imminent peril. I have therefore come to relieve your suffering.”
When the old wizard heard that Luo Feng was not one of the humans from the ancestral homeland, his heart first tightened. But when he heard that Luo Feng was an orthodox god of Heaven, his face filled with confusion.

He continued to speculate inwardly. Was Heaven that sacred mountain, or that great river?
He was an old wizard with a lifetime of experience. How had he never heard of it?
Knowing nothing of Luo Feng’s background or temperament, the old wizard found himself in an impossible dilemma. He could neither move nor remain still.
In the end, he chose to kneel and worship honestly, just as he would when welcoming a native demon god.
“The Rock Tribe pays homage to the great Star Lord of Water Virtue in the North!”
…
Seeing this, Luo Feng paid it no mind. The barbarian tribes had never even heard of Heaven. Their reaction was nothing more than the submission of the weak before the strong.
With a point of his finger into the void, a streak of blue sword qi shot forth. It pierced the crocodile demon, which had been fixed within the frozen space, leaving a hollow tunnel through its body. In an instant, flesh and blood flew everywhere.
Immediately afterward, Luo Feng flicked his sleeve. A clear spring surged in from the distance, rushing into the entire riverbed. The sound of splashing water filled their ears, and before them appeared a crystal-clear river whose bottom could be seen at a glance.
For a moment, the humans of the Rock Tribe forgot the majesty of the divine spirit. They stood there foolishly, staring at the water before them.
Fire was the spark of civilization, the beginning of everything. Water, however, was the source of life. Without water, they could not survive.
“The Rock Tribe pays homage to the great Star Lord of Water Virtue in the North!”
“Greetings, Great God!”
“Rock pays respects to the Star Lord!”
……
A disorderly chorus of cries and prostrations erupted. Compared with their earlier ritual-like and perfunctory worship, these voices contained far more sincerity.
Whether Luo Feng was an orthodox god or an evil god, it did not matter.
He had brought them water. Whoever came bearing water was a true god!
Streams of faith, like crystal-clear droplets, gathered toward him. With a sweep of his hand, Luo Feng collected the scattered power of faith.
He was a genuine ancient Star Lord, and would not be influenced by the incense and faith of mortals.
Nor would he, like an incense deity, regard faith as the foundation of his life.
Nevertheless, the power of faith truly was an energy source that could be harvested with ease.
Once collected, it could be used to refine incarnations and avatars.
This was one of the great characteristics of the Divine Path. True Grand Unity divine venerables possessed countless incarnations. Every temple and every divine statue represented an incarnation or avatar.
As a thriving and ambitious Star Lord deity who was striving toward greatness, he naturally had to take the Grand Unity divine venerables as his model.
He needed not only countless incarnations and avatars in the cultivation world, but also countless incarnations throughout the mortal world, among ordinary people, and within the mundane realm.
