The worst fears are always the ones that come true.

"Brother Zhang, I'm sorry. I couldn't even handle this tiny task you entrusted to me." Xi Miaomiao felt so guilty she wanted to bash her own head against a wall. How could she be so utterly useless that she couldn't even keep an eye on a single person?

"When did she disappear?" Zhang tried his best to keep his voice calm. Xi Miaomiao was rather simple-minded; if the nurse had noticed she was being watched, it wouldn't have been difficult to distract her.

"A little while ago." Xi Miaomiao bit her lip in remorse. "I've searched the entire crew's set, but I can't find her anywhere. Brother Zhang, is there something wrong with her?"

"Never mind," Zhang sighed. He hadn't been with the production crew for long, and apart from Xi Miaomiao, there was no one else he could trust, or he wouldn't have asked her to watch the target.

"Brother Zhang?"

"It's fine. Go back to your work, I have something to take care of." Zhang nodded and hurried down the mountain.

Sensing that Zhang was blaming her, Xi Miaomiao felt an even heavier wave of guilt wash over her.

"Why am I so stupid! So stupid!" She gave her own head two hard smacks.

By the time Zhang reached the main gates of the park, Tang Bin had already arrived ahead of him. Seeing Zhang, Tang Bin raised an eyebrow with a hint of sarcasm and asked, "What? Worried that I won't do my utmost to save Mo Qi?"

"No." Zhang could no longer conceal the anxiety in his heart. "The person who kidnapped Mo Qi is the temporary nurse hired by the crew. Just moments ago, she vanished. I suspect she realized we found out, and I'm afraid she might do something to harm Mo Qi."

"Does that nurse have a personal grudge against Mo Qi?" Tang Bin frowned. Regardless of whether Mo Qi was a contracted actress for the production, if the kidnapper truly turned out to be the nurse, he bore inescapable responsibility.

Although Tang Bin liked to butt heads with Brother Shen, they were, after all, half-brothers sharing the same mother. Aside from making cold, sarcastic remarks, Tang Bin had never actually done anything to damage Shen's reputation.

With this thought, Zhang decided to make a full confession. "No. It's possible that the nurse is a fan of Brother Shen."

"The Heavenly King Shen's fan?" Tang Bin laughed. "A brainless stans is worth ten haters. Someone bold enough to actually commit kidnapping is probably worth a thousand black fans."

"Brother Shen has so many fans. While there is a formal management system and most of them are reasonable, we can't completely prevent certain fans from having radical thoughts and behaviors." After giving a brief explanation, Zhang changed the subject. "How much longer until the Changle County police arrive?"

"At the absolute fastest, another twenty minutes."

"We can't wait that long!" Zhang urged anxiously. "Sir, please take me to the warehouse. Director Tang, I'll have to trouble you to wait here for the police."

Upon hearing that someone had been kidnapped and locked inside the warehouse, the park administrator didn't dare to take the matter lightly and immediately took the lead to guide the way.

Zhang ran forward all the way, following the administrator.

The forest park was a massive mountain; even taking a shortcut, running all the way from the front gate to the west gate took over ten minutes.

The administrator stopped, panting heavily, and pointed to an overgrown, weed-choked clearing ahead. "This area has been abandoned, and very few people ever come here. The warehouse is just behind that."

Zhang lifted his feet and stepped directly into the clearing, where the weeds grew past his knees.

"Hey, young man, wait a moment. Watch out for snakes." The administrator snapped off two small tree branches to use as a walking stick, hurried to catch up with Zhang, and earnestly advised, "Weeds like this are full of rats and frogs, and snakes love to hunt for food in places like this. It's way too dangerous for you to go in like that. Hurry up and take this stick, tap the ground as you walk."

"Thank you, sir!" Zhang could not hide the deep anxiety in his eyes. He hadn't expected it to take so much time just to get from the main entrance to the west gate. *Mo Qi, you must be safe.*

Zhang tapped the weeds perfunctorily with the stick, his pace not slowing down in the least, and eventually broke into a run.

Knowing the situation was urgent, the kind-hearted administrator closely followed behind Zhang, hoping to see if there was anything he could do to help.

After notifying Zhang, Mo Qi had walked around the entire warehouse and discovered that it also had a back door. The back side of the building was even darker and more damp, and the back door was covered in rust; a single hard kick could cause it to collapse entirely.

Mo Qi tightly re-secured the iron chain on the main gate and bound herself back to the chair, making it look secure while actually remaining very easy to untie.

The little wolf tilted its head in confusion, staring at her.

"Little guy, go hide under the bed inside. Don't come out unless you hear me call you, understand?"

"Awooo," the little wolf whined softly, brushed against Mo Qi's lower leg, and trotted over to crawl beneath the bed in the small side room.

Mo Qi sat back down on the chair and waited. Before long, the sound of iron chains being rattled echoed from the front entrance.

The nurse had returned much earlier than she anticipated. Fortunately, she had made preparations in advance.

The nurse returned in a rush. After flinging the door open, she neurotically paced around the entire warehouse before finally stopping at the doorway of the small room, her face dark and sullen as she barked furiously, "Who is it? Who's inside? Get out here right now!"

As she spoke, she quietly picked up an iron rod from the side.

Believing the nurse had discovered the little wolf, Mo Qi's heart tightened, though her expression remained completely calm.

The nurse stood at the doorway of the small room for a full two or three minutes before slowly pushing open the partially ajar wooden door with the iron rod.

Her expression, previously a mix of gloom and violent temper, instantly softened the moment she stepped into the small room and caught sight of Shen Yijue's photographs and posters. She began to mutter softly to herself, "Darling, I know you like me to be a bit more gentle. Look, I'm not angry at all."

Hearing the faint mumblings, Mo Qi felt a sudden chill run through her body as goosebumps erupted across her skin.

"Darling, tell me, has someone been here?" Finding no one after searching the room, the nurse's thoughts shifted, and her expression—so gentle just a moment ago—suddenly turned gloomy once again. "I know! It wasn't someone else, it was you, wasn't it? Darling, you still can't let go of this vixen, can you?"

The nurse paced back and forth frantically inside the room. "She is completely unworthy of you! Why are you so obsessed?! She must have bewitched you. I have to get rid of her! Get rid of her!"

"Ah!!!" The nurse suddenly shrieked, swinging the iron rod in her hand and smashing it against the wooden door.

*Bang!* The wooden door was smashed clean through the middle, leaving a massive dent as wood splinters flew in every direction.

Shattering the door did nothing to vent the nurse's anger; instead, the fierce look on her face grew even more intense. Griping the iron rod tightly, she strode aggressively toward Mo Qi.

Mo Qi quietly slipped her wrists free from the ropes. The moment the nurse raised the iron rod to strike, she would be able to dodge instantly.

"Awooo!" The little wolf, which had obediently followed Mo Qi's instructions, suddenly bolted out from the small room. It clamped its jaws onto the nurse's ankle, planted all four paws firmly on the ground, bared its teeth, and let out a threatening warning growl.

"Get lost!" The nurse whirled around and kicked the little wolf squarely in the waist, sending it flying through the air.

"Yelp, yelp, yelp!" The little wolf let out a cry of agony before slamming heavily onto the floor with a loud thud.

"So you're the one making trouble!" Changing direction, the nurse gripped the iron rod and walked step by step toward the little wolf, which lay sprawled on the ground, struggling twice but unable to stand back up.
