Chapter 136: Blacklisting Mo Qi?
Mo Qi looked up at her, and the nurse turned away as though nothing had happened.
Shen Yijue was transferred to a private general ward, and the little incident was soon forgotten. Mo Qi fetched some water and asked the nurse for a clean towel, then began wiping Shen Yijue’s body.
Guan Min and Xiao Zhang arrived. They had prepared everything else, leaving her little she could help with.
“Is the water too cold?” Mo Qi had mixed boiled water with cold water. She wrung out the towel and began wiping Shen Yijue’s arms.
Shen Yijue leaned against the headboard. “It’s fine.”
“Take off your hospital shirt yourself. I’ll wipe you down.”
“Mm.”
Shen Yijue was very cooperative. He removed his shirt, revealing a firm yet understated six-pack.
Mo Qi wrung out the towel and stood up. When she saw such a perfect, sensual physique, she could not resist reaching out to stroke it once. With a wicked smile, she said, “It feels pretty good.”
Shen Yijue’s skin was not marble-pale; instead, it held a healthy golden-brown hue. The muscles of his body were taut, their contours forming graceful lines. That perfect curve extended downward beneath the covers, making her want to lift the blanket and take a more complete look.
“There are plenty of places that feel good. Do you want to touch them all?” Shen Yijue raised the corner of his mouth as he looked at Mo Qi, amusement dancing in his eyes.
Mo Qi swallowed, then sternly schooled her expression and lectured him. “An injured man should act like an injured man. It’s wrong to go around seducing people.”
“Don’t want to touch?” Shen Yijue arched a brow.
Mo Qi glared at him. After a long moment, she finally nodded honestly.
Shen Yijue let out a low chuckle. Mo Qi gave an annoyed snort. “Don’t get smug. People who light a fire and refuse to put it out are the worst!”
As she spoke, Mo Qi bent down and began wiping him clean.
Shen Yijue lowered his eyes to her petite profile and reached out to tuck the hair that had slipped beside her ear behind her head.
Mo Qi’s ears reddened slightly. Although the feelings between them had already been confirmed, being watched like this still made her a little nervous.
The ward was small, and the air seemed saturated with something sweet and cloying.
“What were you doing outside the stone house this morning?” Mo Qi asked, deliberately changing the subject. Otherwise, she truly feared she would drown in Shen Yijue’s gaze.
“I heard the sound of a stream and planned to catch a fish for your breakfast. When I stepped over, I didn’t notice the snake coiled in that patch of grass,” Shen Yijue said. “I frightened you.”
It wasn’t just frightening her—he had nearly scared her to death! But everything had passed now.
Mo Qi curved her lips and asked half-jokingly, “How are you planning to make it up to me?”
“What kind of compensation do you want?” Shen Yijue lifted Mo Qi’s chin, and their eyes met.
Mo Qi heard her heartbeat pounding like a drum. Her heart drew tight, as though it might burst from her chest the next second.
Shen Yijue leaned down slightly and kissed the center of her brow. He moved downward, kissing her eyelashes, the bridge of her nose, and finally her lips.
He lightly brushed the corner of her mouth, then suddenly clasped the back of her head and deepened the kiss.
His movements were a little rough, threaded with an indescribable tremor of emotion.
Mo Qi understood. Shen Yijue himself was probably afraid too. Not afraid of death, but afraid that they would be separated forever, never to see each other again. Yet from beginning to end, he had appeared so calm and composed.
Tears welled in her eyes once more, but her heart felt completely full.
Mo Qi closed her eyes, wrapped her arms around Shen Yijue, leaned into his embrace, and responded passionately.
Thank goodness. Thank goodness he was all right. Thank goodness they could still hold each other.
Both of them felt as though they had survived a catastrophe, and their kiss was more fervent and reckless than ever before.
Gradually, the breaths they exhaled grew heated.
Shen Yijue released her lips and rested his forehead against hers. His deep eyes were dark and gleaming.
Mo Qi was nestled entirely in his arms, so she naturally felt the change in his body. She could not help finding it amusing.
“And you’re still laughing.” Shen Yijue pinched her cheek without mercy and said helplessly, “Do you feel better now?”
Mo Qi rolled her eyes and refused to admit anything. “You were the one who started teasing me. How can you turn around and blame me? Is that reasonable?”
“Who was the one touching me all over just now?”
“Heh. Who knows?” Mo Qi gave him a wicked smile, glanced pointedly at his body, and said, “Do you need me to help you to the restroom?”
“If I remember correctly, doesn’t this hospital only have public restrooms?”
“That’s right.” Mo Qi nodded.
Shen Yijue looked helpless. “Mo Qi, how did I never realize before that you were this wicked?”
“That only means you haven’t gotten to know all of me yet.” Mo Qi climbed down from the bed and continued wringing out the towel to wipe him clean.
Guan Min entered with his phone in hand just in time to hear that. He rolled his eyes speechlessly. “I’m nearly driven to death just knowing this much about you. And you still want him to learn more?”
Mo Qi raised a brow. In a good mood, she decided not to argue with Guan Min today.
“What is it?” Shen Yijue turned his head and asked.
Guan Min handed over the phone. Shen Yijue saw that it displayed a text message that had just arrived.
“I’ve already negotiated with the company, but their attitude is firm. They refuse to back down easily.”
Shen Yijue’s brows drew together slightly, and the faint smile that had rested on his face vanished, replaced by his usual impassive expression.
The message was explicit. Starworld Entertainment intended to blacklist Mo Qi completely. Their stated reason was that she had maliciously exploited his fame to generate publicity.
Watching Shen Yijue’s expression, Guan Min said solemnly, “On the surface, this appears to be the shareholders’ decision. But someone discreetly hinted to me that it may have been ordered by the old master.”
“Tell them not to interfere. I’ll handle the rest.” Shen Yijue turned off the phone and made sure Mo Qi did not see the contents of the message.
Mo Qi’s smile faded as well. “Is it related to me?”
“No.” Shen Yijue returned the phone to Guan Min.
Guan Min glanced at Mo Qi, then went outside to make a call.
Xiao Zhang came upstairs carrying takeout and the clothes he had bought, nearly colliding with Guan Min. Seeing Guan Min’s grim expression, the smile on Xiao Zhang’s face immediately faded.
“Brother Guan, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Guan Min shook his head. “Take these inside first. I’ll be back after making a call.”
Xiao Zhang was baffled, but he did not dare ask more. He carried the food and clothes into the ward.
Shen Yijue had already put on his clothes and was sitting silently against the headboard.
“Brother Shen, Mo Qi, you must both be hungry. Come eat.” Xiao Zhang handed the takeout to Mo Qi with a smile.
Mo Qi accepted it. “Thank you, Brother Xiao Zhang. Sorry to trouble you.”
“We’re all friends. Why are you being so formal? Besides, it’s part of my job.” Xiao Zhang took out the new clothes he had bought and spread them flat. There was no coat rack in the ward, so this was the only way to keep them from wrinkling.
Mo Qi knew the incident just now must have involved her. But since Shen Yijue was unwilling to say anything, there was no way she could get an answer from him even if she asked.
“Brother Xiao Zhang, you eat with Shen Yijue. I’m going to the restroom.”
With a smile, Mo Qi stood and walked out of the ward, heading straight for Guan Min, who was making his call. Shen Yijue’s refusal to tell her did not mean Guan Min would keep silent.
