Shen Yijue carried Mo Qi’s handbag and took the elevator down to the lobby. The television station staff caught sight of him and automatically steered clear, not daring to step forward to greet him.

"Has someone provoked the Heavenly King Shen? His expression looks terrifying." The receptionist at the front desk shrank back cautiously, trying to minimize her already faint presence.

"Shh, be careful not to be overheard." Another receptionist, seeing Shen Yijue leave the lobby only to turn back around two minutes later, immediately lowered her head and pretended to be busy working.

Shen Yijue walked straight to the front desk and asked, "Have you seen Mo Qi?"

"Mo Qi?" The receptionist paused for a moment. Seeing Shen Yijue’s expression darken further, she quickly nodded, "Yes, we saw her. Mo Qi just left a moment ago, and she was chatting with He Shuai for a while." It was precisely because of He Shuai that they had noticed her.

"How long ago did she leave?"

The receptionist thought for a moment and said, "About ten minutes ago."

Ten minutes! Shen Yijue’s eyes deepened. He gave a slight nod and said, "Thank you." With that, he turned and walked out again.

The two receptionists let out a long sigh of relief and exchanged glances, genuinely remarking, "In that moment just now, I truly thought the Heavenly King wanted to crush my throat."

"Same here," the other receptionist agreed, clutching her chest.

Even though he had only said two sentences and remained as cold and expressionless as always, they had felt an overwhelming sense of terror.

Shen Yijue returned to the plaza outside the main entrance of the television station.

At past nine in the evening, the streets were not particularly crowded, with private cars and taxis passing by occasionally. The streetlights had long since flickered to life, casting a warm yellow glow across the plaza and the street beyond, but Mo Qi was nowhere to be found.

Passersby outside the plaza had already noticed Shen Yijue. Older folks just looked on with curiosity, while younger ones rushed over in delighted surprise.

The station security guards, who had been cautiously trailing behind Shen Yijue, had no choice but to bite the bullet and step forward to block the fans charging in for autographs and photos.

"Your Majesty, can I have an autograph? I love you so much!"

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Take a picture with us!" The fans were so agitated that the two guards could barely hold them back. Seeing this, the other four guards from the lobby immediately rushed out as well.

Struggling to hold back the crowd, the guards shouted, "Everyone, please maintain order! Order!"

The plaza outside the station was in an uproar, yet Shen Yijue, standing at the very center, remained completely unresponsive.

He stood there motionless, clutching the woman’s handbag, his eyes as deep as an abyss as he stared at the street beyond the plaza.

The fans seemed to notice that "His Majesty" was in a strange mood and followed his gaze toward the street with confusion. Only the occasional passerby wondered: What is His Majesty looking at?

"Heavenly King Shen..." A guard looked back at him, feeling uneasy. With the crowd of fans growing, if he didn't leave soon, they wouldn't be able to hold back the excited mob much longer.

Mo Qi had clearly used a softened attitude to paralyze him, all while fully preparing for her escape—how could she possibly be waiting here for him to catch her?

Shen Yijue withdrew his gaze, nodded at the guards, and turned back toward the station lobby.

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!" the fans called out from behind.

The guards breathed a sigh of relief. Once the Heavenly King was gone, these fans, unable to get their autographs or photos, would naturally disperse.

Shen Yijue took the elevator back up and went straight to the dressing room.

The production crew was gathered in a large dressing room nearby having a late-night snack, leaving this area perfectly quiet.

Shen Yijue closed the door and opened Mo Qi’s bag.

The wallet was inside, but the ID card that was always kept there was missing. Her phone was not in the bag either!

"Mo Qi!" The name was practically hissed through Shen Yijue’s gritted teeth—a true display of pure, gnashing hatred!

He had been wholeheartedly trying to treat her well, yet she had been wholeheartedly planning her escape! His entire devotion had been met with nothing but pretense and lies!

Shen Yijue looked up and saw his reflection in the vanity mirror, and he couldn't help but smash the glass with a single punch!

Liu Yi pushed open the door just in time to witness this, and he was genuinely startled.

Shen Yijue pulled his fist back, expressionless, and glanced at him.

"Uh..." Liu Yi loosened his grip on the door handle and instinctively took a step back. "I just came to look for Mo Qi. Since she’s not here, you go ahead with your business; just pretend I never came."

Liu Yi tried to slip away, but Shen Yijue strode forward, grabbed him by the arm, dragged him back, and pinned him against the door. "What do you want with her?"

"Huh?" Shen Yijue had used real force; his arm was sure to be bruised. Liu Yi frowned. "Looking for Mo Qi shouldn't have anything to do with Heavenly King Shen, right?"

Shen Yijue shoved Liu Yi into the dressing room and kicked the door shut with his heel.

Liu Yi took two steps back, watching him defensively!

"Liu Yi, we haven't known each other for just one day. You should know exactly what I'm asking." Shen Yijue looked at Liu Yi with a face as dark as water, his gaze as sharp as a drawn sword.

Liu Yi couldn't help but feel his heart race. Although Shen Yijue was usually cold and indifferent to others' affairs, Liu Yi had long since witnessed his methods of handling things.

Weighing the pros and cons, he ultimately couldn't withstand the pressure Shen Yijue was exerting. Liu Yi said, "Someone had me deliver a note to Mo Qi. I don't know anything else."

"A note!"

Liu Yi pointed at the vanity table. "I saw Mo Qi toss it into that pile of bottles and jars."

Shen Yijue glanced at him, walked over to the vanity, and found the small, crumpled piece of paper. "Who gave you the note?"

Liu Yi shrugged, looking perfectly innocent. "I don't know."

"Liu Yi, Mo Qi is my woman! Regardless of whose favors you’ve accepted, keep your hands off her, or you won't be able to bear the consequences!" Having said that, Shen Yijue didn't even look at Liu Yi again and strode out of the dressing room.

Liu Yi followed him to the door, and only after confirming that Shen Yijue had left did he pull out his phone and make a call.

The phone rang twice before it was answered. Tang Bin’s voice, clearly in high spirits, came through. "Ah, Editor-in-Chief Liu, hello."

"Hello, my ass!" Liu Yi loosened his tie, his face dark. "Shen Yijue is unexpectedly furious. You’d better prepare to be dealt with!"

"Heh." Tang Bin gave a low chuckle. "Fury is good! The angrier he is, the more interesting I find it. Otherwise, where’s the fun in playing?"

"I’m serious," Liu Yi sighed. "Why don't you just return Mo Qi? Shen Yijue is genuinely incensed; I thought for a moment he might lose his head and snap me in half."

"Don't worry, this is a society ruled by law. No matter how angry Shen Yijue gets, he won't lose his reason," Tang Bin consoled him with little sincerity before adding, "Besides, even if I wanted to let Mo Qi go, I couldn't. I never actually received her."

"What? She didn't go to the back door to meet you?" Liu Yi was shocked. He hadn't expected Mo Qi to run off on her own without relying on Tang Bin. Looking back now at the indifferent smile she had worn when she saw the note, it seemed she had her own plans from the very start.

What a truly formidable woman.
