Mo Qi remained expressionless upon hearing this.

Shen Yijue did not take the bottled water, so she casually placed it on a nearby cabinet and smiled, “Brother Xiao Zhang called and asked me to take care of you at the hospital. If anything happens to you, he’ll be the one to blame. You know I’m on good terms with Brother Xiao Zhang; it wouldn’t be right to let him lose his job.”

Shen Yijue’s eyes suddenly narrowed. “Is that all?”

“Entrusted by others, loyal to their duties,” Mo Qi shrugged indifferently. “Besides, although we haven’t spent much time together recently, it’s not so little either. If you’re sick, even as ordinary friends, I should at least show some concern.”

“You’re lying.” Shen Yijue suddenly took a long stride toward Mo Qi, reaching out to clamp her chin, his voice low and commanding, “You’re lying!”

Before Mo Qi could respond, he continued, “If you were truly an ordinary friend, you wouldn’t act like this.”

Tall and imposing, Shen Yijue’s serious expression as he drew near was overwhelming. Mo Qi met his gaze without retreating, arching an eyebrow slightly. “Oh? Even I don’t know why.”

“Mo Qi, you’re too cunning and know exactly how to avoid harm and seek benefit,” Shen Yijue said. “If you really were just an ordinary friend, you would try to please me, not push me away like you’re doing now.”

“Heh, listen to you, King Shen, as if I ever intentionally pulled you closer before,” Mo Qi lowered her lashes and smiled faintly, subtly turning her head to free her chin from his fingers.

Unexpectedly, Shen Yijue did not force her; instead, he released his grip.

Silence fell between them, the dormitory growing quiet.

Mo Qi was unclear about Shen Yijue’s purpose for coming to the dormitory and dared not speak rashly, only responding as needed.

“To the apartment.” After standing quietly for at least five minutes, Shen Yijue suddenly threw out a sentence and stepped out of the dorm.

Why go to the apartment? Mo Qi frowned slightly; she didn’t want to go now. But with only seven days left until the final competition, if she could avoid Shen Yijue on the first day of the lunar month, could she also avoid him on the fifteenth?

After some thought, Mo Qi finally put down her towel, grabbed her bag, and followed him out.

Shen Yijue was already alone in the car.

Mo Qi hesitated before opening the car door and getting in. “Brother Xiao Zhang.”

Xiao Zhang quietly gave Mo Qi a knowing look: Shen’s mood seems bad, so be careful what you say.

Mo Qi smiled gratefully. Shen Yijue beside her said, “To the apartment.”

“All right, Brother Shen.”

The car slowly drove out, made a U-turn at the intersection, and headed toward the apartment complex.

Xiao Zhang sneaked a glance at the two through the rearview mirror and saw that both wore solemn faces. Naturally, he didn’t dare say a word.

The car arrived at the apartment’s parking lot, and the two got out, one on each side.

Shen Yijue said nothing, and Xiao Zhang dared not follow them upstairs.

“Brother Shen, these are the medicines prescribed by the substitute doctor. There’s a note inside explaining how to take them. You must remember to take them on time,” Xiao Zhang handed Mo Qi a bag full of Western medicine.

Shen Yijue pressed the elevator button without responding. Mo Qi smiled and said, “Brother Xiao Zhang, don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on King Shen and make sure he takes his medicine on time.”

Xiao Zhang winked at Mo Qi twice before saying, “Then I leave it to you.” He quickly added in a low voice, “Brother Shen is in a bad mood. Don’t provoke him.”

After saying this, he noticed Shen Yijue had already gone into the elevator, expressionless and staring at them.

Xiao Zhang’s back stiffened, and he hurriedly waved goodbye before rushing back to his car.

Mo Qi’s mouth twitched slightly. Holding the medicine, she followed and entered the elevator.

Only then did Shen Yijue release his finger from the button as the elevator doors slowly closed.

Back at the apartment, before Mo Qi could put down her bag, Shen Yijue suddenly grabbed her wrist and dragged her silently toward the second floor.

“King Shen?!” Mo Qi was suspicious and uncertain, unsure of his intentions.

His face dark and grim, Shen Yijue wordlessly led her upstairs.

Mo Qi staggered slightly under his pull and suddenly recalled the chains and handcuffs in the study.

Could Shen Yijue really intend to imprison her here?

“King Shen, you’re hurting my wrist,” Mo Qi said calmly despite her shock and fear.

Shen Yijue did not loosen his grip and dragged her all the way to the study on the second floor.

“Bang!” The study door was slammed shut and locked.

Shen Yijue took handcuffs and chains from the desk drawer and tossed them onto the desk, making Mo Qi’s heart tighten.

“Mo Qi, I’ve told you before, don’t force me to hurt you,” Shen Yijue finally looked at her, eyes sharp. “I hope you’ll stay here willingly.”

Mo Qi realized he wasn’t just threatening—he truly could imprison her like this without anyone noticing.

“Why do you want to keep me chained by your side?” Mo Qi finally voiced the doubt buried deep in her heart. Why did Shen Yijue’s love feel like tethering someone like a little dog?

“To prevent anyone who covets you,” he replied.

“Is it a perverse possessiveness?” Mo Qi’s lips curled slightly, a hint of sarcasm.

“I prefer you think of it as protection,” Shen Yijue said, rubbing his forehead wearily. “You’ll stay here until I’m sure you won’t run away.”

“I still have competitions,” Mo Qi frowned, struggling to suppress the anger and fear swelling in her chest.

Shen Yijue was silent for a moment before finally saying, “I will send you to the finals.” With that, he strode out of the study.

Mo Qi stood alone, the fire of anger burning brighter than her fear.

“Bastard!” She spun around and kicked the study door, then felt a pang of grievance. Shen Yijue’s so-called love wasn’t love at all; it was pure possession.

“Shen Yijue, you bastard! You’re just forcing yourself on me, not loving meI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
