Chapter 52: Silver Equipment
After finishing my call with Lin Xuefeng, I stepped out the door.
It was past eight in the evening, the hour when most scavengers headed out to work. The Milai Restaurant was bustling with customers, and Milai herself flitted about like a butterfly, barely managing to spare a glance for her 'regulars' such as myself.
I was used to this, and after hastily satisfying my hunger, I returned to my apartment.
Ignoring the alluring advances and seductive glances from the ‘sexy starlet’ within the apartment—her provocative hips and intoxicating charm—I resolutely strode forward, keeping the furious ‘little rascal’ outside of my bedroom!
…
After logging in, I spent another two hours toiling in the White Cloud Mine, pushing my level to the cusp of fourteen.
Unfortunately, the integrity of my ‘Silver Beast Magic Dagger’ had dropped to sixty-one percent. If I kept fighting, its essence would be seriously damaged, making full restoration impossible.
Returning to the city, I repaired my dagger and remembered Zilei’s words—so I made a trip to the grand ‘Bank Hall’ near Xuanshuang City’s plaza.
“You haven’t activated banking services yet. Would you like to pay five gold coins now and enjoy the convenience of the bank?” The attendant’s sweet voice was almost tempting.
Five gold coins just to activate the service? That’s robbery…
I frowned and checked my backpack. Aside from the fifty gold coins Light Whisper had traded to me, I had twenty-seven coins wrested from the warriors after four hours of battle—over eighty gold coins in total, enough to call myself a minor tycoon.
Might as well pay.
Gritting my teeth, I accepted the bank’s extortion without hesitation.
“Scavenger Qilin, banking service activated. You may now access the following bank services…” As the attendant’s melodious voice continued, my feeling of being exploited slowly faded, replaced by a satisfied smile:
The in-game bank’s functions were impressive. Besides transferring gold and silver coins, it offered item storage and mailing!
---
Once a player’s banking service was activated, they enjoyed direct transfer capabilities and access to a ‘Grand Vault’—an unlimited item storage space.
Physical item mailing was just as fast as currency transfer: once the destination was confirmed, the item would instantly appear in the recipient’s bank. Efficient and convenient, with only a monthly storage fee of two gold coins… Worth it!
After the attendant finished her introduction, my mood brightened considerably. I immediately messaged Zilei to inform him that I’d activated banking services.
No sooner had I sent the message than he replied before I’d even left the bank:
“Perfect timing, I’m here too. I’ll transfer your gear right away…”
I paused, scanning the bank hall in Xuanshuang City for him but saw no sign.
“Is this guy messing with me?”
Just as the thought crossed my mind, the system notified me: “Player ‘Zilei’ has sent you a package. Please confirm at the bank!”
Huh?
So he wasn’t actually in Xuanshuang City?
Realizing this, I followed the attendant’s instructions and opened my bank space…
…
Immediately, I saw two pieces of equipment shimmering with a faint white glow: a pair of boots and a pair of bracers, both imbued with a subtle wind elemental aura.
Wind Spirit Vine Boots (Silver Equipment): Defense 12–15; Magic Defense 1; Agility +6; Movement Speed +5%; Strength Requirement 10; Agility Requirement 33; Integrity 100%; Level Requirement 15. Class Requirement: Archer-type.
Wind Spirit Vine Bracers (Silver Equipment): Defense 12–15; Magic Defense 1; Agility +6; Attack Speed +5%; Strength Requirement 10; Agility Requirement 33; Integrity 100%; Level Requirement 15. Class Requirement: Archer-type.
My heart leapt with excitement.
The Light Whisper Mercenary Group truly lived up to its reputation as a top guild, able to procure a set of first-rate tier-one gear with ease.
---
Light Whisper and Zilei were remarkably generous!
Just looking at the equipment stats, it was clear they’d chosen them with care—both the boots and bracers boosted agility, perfect for a speed-oriented archer, and their physical defense was solid.
“I wonder how Zilei managed to acquire these…”
Feeling exhilarated, I glanced at the next item—a pair of pants woven from purple vines:
Purple Vine Legguards (Silver Equipment): Defense 14; Magic Defense 2; Strength +3; Agility +3; Stamina +3; Strength Requirement 15; Agility Requirement 25; Integrity 100%…
Though the stats on the pants were a bit weaker, boosting three core attributes at once was still excellent.
Next, I examined a silver-white metal circlet—small in size, but its stats were impressive:
Elven Helm (Silver Equipment): Defense 12–15; Magic Defense 2; Wisdom +3; Agility +3; Stamina +3; Strength Requirement 15; Agility Requirement 30…
As with the Purple Vine Legguards, it increased three basic stats, but this time included wisdom—three points of wisdom meant six mana points, enough for three to six tier-one skills.
I turned to the final piece, a dark green armor. Its deep tone and light-absorbing patterns made me frown—it looked heavy.
Wood Spirit Armor (Silver Equipment): Defense 18–20; Magic Defense 3; Agility +3; Stamina +3; Strength +3; Strength Requirement 18; Agility Requirement 30; Integrity 100%; Level Requirement 15.
As expected!
The strength requirement was a staggering eighteen points! Oddly, it appeared heavy, so it shouldn’t raise agility…
Just as I puzzled over this, Zilei messaged me:
“Are you happy with the gear? I heard from Brother Bai that you’re focusing on high agility and prefer solo play, so I selected these pieces for you… How are they?”
“Fantastic!” I praised without hesitation. This set was even better than I’d anticipated. Even against level twenty monsters, I’d hardly be in danger.
“I’m glad you like it! There’s also a bow…”
