“You should know that if I don’t get what I want, your fate will be miserable. Let me borrow these silver needles for a moment.” She stared at Mo Qianli; extracting confessions was her specialty. Mo Qianli handed her the items.

“Do you know? The worst pain isn’t in the neck—it’s in the brain. Right here.” She touched the back of her head. “This is a very peculiar spot. It’s where pain is processed. You probably don’t understand. If I stab the needle here, you won’t die, and it won’t hurt. You’ll lose all sensation. But if I pull it out, it will feel as if countless tiny knives are slicing through your brain, one after another. Do you understand?”

She looked at Lian Bailiu. Hearing such a description was enough to terrify her, and it seemed she wasn’t lying this time.

This time, she was definitely telling the truth, although Lian Bailiu knew she’d lied about the previous question.

“Good, it seems you understand. So, once again—who is that person? I want only a name. Understand? Just a name. There’s no need to pay such a terrible price for a name.”

The woman smiled, cold and cruel. When Sinosan became frightening, she could truly terrify others.

Lian Bailiu stared at Sinosan; Sinosan stared back.

“Fine, it seems you want to try.” She thrust the needle in.

“Miss Si, will she be alright?” Mo Qianli asked, seeing Lian Bailiu unmoving. Sinosan had already explained the effect.

“Don’t worry, she won’t die. If I used electricity, it would be even more entertaining.”

“Electricity? What’s that?”

“Lightning’s power. But you can’t use it yet.”

Sinosan sat across from her. After a minute, she swiftly withdrew the needle.

“Ah…” A piercing scream escaped Lian Bailiu. Her head shook violently, tears streamed from her eyes, her face contorted in agony.

In truth, Sinosan didn’t want to resort to such cruelty, but if she didn’t, they’d think she was joking. She had to give a lesson.

Only then would Lian Bailiu cooperate.

Mo Qianli, observing Sinosan, didn’t think her cruel or ruthless; his own methods might have been even bloodier. This was the woman who killed Po Ming.

“You vicious woman! How can you torture people so cruelly? Have you ever endured such pain yourself? How can you do this?” After two minutes, Lian Bailiu seemed to recover, still mustering the strength to curse her. Sinosan paid the insults no mind.

“Just confess everything. Who is she? You wouldn’t want to suffer this pain again—or something even worse. You should realize I am more terrifying than your ‘him’.”

She had guessed who it was, but had no proof. Words alone were worthless—no one would believe her.

“I understand, I’ll answer. I’d rather you kill me outright.” Her head still felt as if it floated in emptiness.

Such cruel methods—she’d never experienced anything like it. Worse than having flesh sliced from the bone. She couldn’t endure it twice.

“Smart. Understand that suffering like this, more than twice, and the brain will be ruined. She’ll become an idiot. If it weren’t necessary, I wouldn’t do it. Congratulations—you survived once.”

Though she hated the princess fiercely, the pain nearly killed her. Or rather, she wished she were dead.

“It’s Miss Qin from Qin Tower. She paid heavily to have me do all this. I know nothing of any secrets. Po Ming never told me anything!”

“Miss Qin? Are you sure?” Mo Qianli stepped forward, eyeing Lian Bailiu.

“I’m just an assassin. I follow the money. Revenge stopped mattering to me long ago. I simply completed the task as instructed.”

Just as she finished, a concealed weapon shot in, striking her neck. Lian Bailiu died instantly.

“Who?” Sinosan and Mo Qianli rushed out, but saw no one.

“Someone! Search immediately! Someone entered and killed Lian Bailiu. Hurry!” Sinosan pointed in the only possible direction, ordering the guards to pursue, though she knew it was hopeless. Still, she couldn’t do nothing.

Xuan Yuan Juesi arrived.

“What’s going on here?” He looked at the dead Lian Bailiu.

“She was killed by a hidden weapon,” Mo Qianli answered.

“And you—what are you doing?” He glared at Sinosan.

Whether Lian Bailiu lived or died meant nothing to him. But what was this woman doing here?

“I just happened to be passing through.”

Sinosan rolled her eyes, and Xuan Yuan Juesi certainly didn’t believe such a ridiculous excuse.

“Do you take me for a fool? You think I’ll believe that? Sinosan, have you ever listened to anything I said?” He raised his hand to teach her a lesson.

Mo Qianli hurried to stand between them.

“Brother, don’t. Miss Si has helped us greatly. Lian Bailiu confessed: it was Miss Qin from Qin Tower who orchestrated all this. But now she’s dead, and there’s no proof. It’s pointless to confront Miss Qin now.”

Mo Qianli looked at his younger brother and quickly explained.

“What? Miss Qin is involved?” He looked at his elder brother—who didn’t seem to be lying. Then glanced at Sinosan; this woman was becoming increasingly unruly.

“Yes, but now we have no witness. Someone silenced her. If what Lian Bailiu said is true, perhaps Miss Qin sent someone to kill her.”

“But I know her. She’s not that kind of person.”

Xuan Yuan Juesi refused to believe it was Miss Qin.

“Of course you know her. You know her very well. Your reason must have been eaten by a dog. I might lie, but would your brother? If you insist on deceiving yourself, there’s nothing I can do. Suit yourself! I’m leaving.”

She hurried toward the bedroom, determined not to let him catch her. Otherwise, trouble would follow.

Sinosan left in a fit of anger, but this time Xuan Yuan Juesi did not pursue her.

That didn’t mean she’d escaped. This man was truly terrifying, and he was very adept at settling scores later.

But Sinosan could never restrain her meddlesome heart. She’d rather suffer herself than ignore things. Xuan Yuan Juesi wouldn’t kill her.

After all this time, though he disciplined her, he never truly harmed her. He was simply a strong, proud man.

It really wasn’t anything.

Xuan Yuan Juesi and Mo Qianli instructed that Lian Bailiu’s body be taken away for burial. Though Mo Qianli hated her, now that she was dead, the matter was concluded—at least for her.
