Chapter 120: Fierce Battle 5
The crowd held their breath. This was their first time seeing the Prince at such close range. He possessed a hazy, ethereal beauty, yet it was precisely this beauty that made everyone else feel inferior and unworthy.
Luo Mei was wild with joy; she had known the Prince would come to save her! She wanted to scream his name, to announce to the world that she was the goddess of luck. Unfortunately, she was so overwhelmed with excitement that her voice trembled violently; the others could not make out what she was saying and merely assumed she was shrieking from agony.
Luo Yi was equally beyond herself with excitement. She gazed at the Prince with eyes full of affection. She was well aware of the gap between them—a chasm as wide as the distance between the heavens and the earth. Yet, the Prince favored her! What an inescapable fate! How enviable it was that such a thing had happened to her! She resolved to cultivate diligently and strive to become even more outstanding, so as to be worthy of the Prince's deep devotion.
Luo the Ancestor was naturally gratified. That the Prince would deign to intervene was a tremendous honor. With such poise and overwhelming power, even a hundred crown princes would not be worth a single finger of his.
Luo the Ancestor sighed to himself. What good was a crown prince with advantages if he lacked the destiny of a true king? The Prince standing before them inspired both fear and submission from the very depths of one's soul; this was the true material of a ruler.
As for the Crown Prince, his face had turned green with rage. He had lost all face, while the Prince had stepped in to play the hero! Furthermore, he could not fathom why this man, who was notoriously ruthless and prone to kicking people when they were down, would be so kind as to save them this time. When he saw the way the Luo sisters gazed at the Prince with such infatuation, he was so enraged he spat blood.
"Your Highness!"
Qi Zifan's cry of alarm pulled the two spiders back to their senses. Initially, they had paid the Prince no mind. But when they laid eyes on his handsome features, they were instantly captivated. Although these two spiders were formidable, they had one fatal weakness: they were obsessed with beauty. They had seen countless people in their time, both men and women, but never in all the world had they seen anyone as breathtakingly beautiful as Situ Tengyi.
The mother spider drooled at the sight, and the father spider was no different.
"Husband, this man is so beautiful. Let's not hurt him. Let's take him back to our cave as a display piece, shall we?"
The father spider replied with equal obsession, "Whatever makes you happy, my dear."
Situ Tengyi was unaware that the two spiders had been stunned into inaction by his appearance. He cast a indifferent glance at the crowd and directed his ten clones to rescue them. Just as the clones were about to sever the spiders' claws to free the captives, the rescue was thwarted by the commotion caused by the Crown Prince spitting blood and Qi Zifan's shout.
The father spider let out a massive, demonic shriek. The sound was deafening, causing everyone to gasp for breath as their hearts nearly stopped beating. The father spider signaled to the mother that the situation had become dangerous; they should slay the captives and leave only Situ Tengyi alive.
With that, the two spiders’ eyes glowed with a sickly green light, and they joined forces to attack Situ Tengyi's ten clones. The captives, still bound, were tossed about and sent spinning in dizziness by the force of the combat.
Situ Tengyi longed to crush the Crown Prince and Qi Zifan into dust. Had he succeeded in rescuing the others just moments ago, his chances of victory in this battle would have been far greater. Seeing that the spiders were not attacking him directly, he produced a flute and began to play. The crowd, who had felt as though their hearts were being crushed by giant boulders, suddenly felt a wave of relief as the melodious notes washed over them, and their breathing began to steady.
