Chapter 120: You've Got Some Skill
"Strange, are these people all blind?" Duan Sheng couldn't help but grumble.
They had walked all the way to 'Handong Tiandi', passing many people along the way, yet everyone completely ignored Yang Meng and his companions.
Yun He explained, "It's just a blindfold technique. Ghostly entities are best at creating illusions. It's essentially a form of psychological suggestion; ordinary people cannot see them, but it’s useless against modern technology like surveillance cameras."
Long Mingyang was taken aback after hearing this. He turned to Yang Meng and asked, "Was the incident that Teng'er and Xixiang encountered with you at that nightclub the same thing?"
Yang Meng waved his hand with a smile. "Old Master Long, that’s not fair to say. That was just infighting among gangs; it had nothing to do with me!"
Long Mingyang nodded, saying, "Understood, understood. Little Yang, you truly possess great ability."
At this, Yun He interjected, "Chairman Long, this method of exorcism is, after all, an unorthodox art! If a normal person stays with a ghost for too long, they will be affected by it, and the end result will be becoming neither human nor ghost."
Yang Meng frowned. "Listen here, Daoist Yun He. I respect you, so I call you Daoist, but if you push me, I’ll call you a 'stubborn old fool'! Did I dig up your ancestors' graves or something? Why do you keep targeting me? Oh, are you afraid that I’m hindering your ability to make money? And yet, when I cleaned up your mess last time, did I ask you for a single cent? Tell me, Old Master Long, did you pay this half-baked old priest last time? Does he even have the face to take it?"
Yun He’s face turned beet red. In fact, Long Mingyang had indeed paid him, and he had indeed accepted it!
However, the situation was that Long Mingyang had offered the money first. After it was over, Yun He felt embarrassed and wanted to return it, but Long Mingyang was wealthy and generous, and since Yun He had been injured in the process, he didn't take the money back.
Regardless, Yun He had accepted the payment, and he couldn't refute Yang Meng’s words.
Fortunately, Yang Meng didn't continue to kick him while he was down. He pointed to the elevator and asked, "These are all private elevators that open directly into the units, right? How do we get in?"
'Handong Tiandi' featured elevators that opened directly into the homes, and entry was impossible without an access card. However, this didn't stump Duan Sheng. After tapping on his iPad a few times, he said, "It’s done!"
Yang Meng said to Long Mingyang, "Old Master Long, I still suggest you don't go up. We only have Zhao Kuo to deal with a sorcerer; we don't even know if he can handle it. Let's not have you getting injured again like last time!"
Yun He, unable to stand Yang Meng’s sarcasm, snorted, "Hmph, what sorcerer? Just minor tricks! With my magical artifacts in hand this time, I will certainly protect Chairman Long from harm!"
Yang Meng shrugged. "It’s not that I don't believe you; it’s that I don't believe you at all! Old Master Long, you are Long Teng’s father; I cannot let you come to harm. You really shouldn't go up."
Long Mingyang, however, shook his head. "Little Yang, this is a private elevator access building. You are trespassing, so I suppose my old face still carries some weight. Besides, if there really is danger, aren't you there?"
Hearing Long Mingyang’s words, Yun He’s face turned pitch black. What was that supposed to mean? I have my serious magical artifacts ready, and you still don't trust me?
Yang Meng looked at Long Mingyang, speechless. Is he still trying to avoid making a scene? Well, that makes sense; such an incident in a luxury community would indeed have a huge impact on the Long Group. But can this really be swept under the rug?
Otherwise, why would Yang Meng have come here?
Fine, if you want to go up, then go up!
This was, after all, a luxury residential area. There were three elevators in total, leading to the foyer, the living room, and the kitchen respectively. Long Mingyang led Yang Meng and the others into the elevator heading to the foyer. "Old Master Long, we’re already breaking and entering here, do you really need to be so polite?" Yang Meng grumbled inside the elevator.
Duan Sheng answered this from the side: "We don't have any evidence yet. If this turns out to be a misunderstanding, the trouble will be massive!"
Yang Meng frowned slightly. "You don't trust me? Then why even come up here? Tell me, Old Master Duan, even though you are Duan Bowan’s father, why do I feel like you’re not as capable as your son? There really is a difference between being educated and not! If Duan Bowan were here, he certainly wouldn't say something like that! Are you afraid a misunderstanding will affect the Long Group? It doesn't matter! Do you believe I can make everyone forget what happened today—including you?"
Upon hearing Yang Meng’s words, the image of Feng Tao immediately flashed through Long Mingyang’s mind! Although Duan Sheng knew about Yang Meng’s feats, he hadn't witnessed them firsthand, so he lacked a certain level of awe. But Long Mingyang had seen with his own eyes how Feng Tao went from a lively man to a vegetable! His first reaction to Yang Meng’s words was that he was going to turn Duan Sheng into someone like Feng Tao, so he hurriedly said, "Little Yang, why be so hasty? Duan Sheng is a good man in every respect, except for this one thing: he’s always suspicious of everything. His motto is 'prepare for the worst and hope for the best,' which is the experience he’s gained from doing business for so many years. But society is progressing, and old habits can sometimes be fatal! He is not the same as Feng Tao."
Yang Meng almost laughed out loud upon hearing this. Does he actually think he’s going to turn Duan Sheng into a vegetable like Feng Tao?
Is he that kind of person? If he were, he could have just killed his way in earlier! Why go through all this trouble?
Yun He chimed in, "Young friend Yang, I can see you are a man of talent, but do not be arrogant or act stubbornly; that will only make people resent you."
Yang Meng curled his lip at Yun He. "Daoist? Look at your big gold chain and gold watch—where exactly is the 'poverty'? Can you stop insulting the word 'poor'? Whether you like me or not, what does that have to do with me? Even if 99% of the world dislikes me, there are still seventy-five million people who like me! I’m not living my life to please you! Wait, what?"
As he spoke, he suddenly frowned. "Old Master Long, get behind me!"
Long Mingyang was startled. "Little Yang, what’s going on?"
Yang Meng said in a low voice, "There’s a murderous aura! And the scent of blood is very heavy!"
Having inherited the path of slaughter from Huang Feihu, he was extremely sensitive to such murderous intent.
Yun He, however, shook his head. "Playing at being a ghost!"
Long Mingyang glanced at Yang Meng and, after hesitating for a moment, stepped behind him.
Just then, the elevator arrived at the floor and the doors opened. When Long Mingyang saw what was inside, his scalp tingled. "This... what is going on?"
Two headless male corpses lay on the ground. Judging by their positions, it looked as if they had been decapitated while running toward the elevator!
Furthermore, the bodies were clearly freshly killed, with blood pooling all over the floor!
"Is... is this the work of a ghost?" Long Mingyang asked Yang Meng.
Yang Meng shook his head. "Definitely not. Ghosts aren't demons; they don't have physical forms and can only attack the soul. How could they possibly sever a man’s head?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than he saw a man in a suit running toward them frantically! His face lit up with joy upon seeing Yang Meng and the others. "Help..."
Unfortunately, before he could finish his sentence, his head was severed from his neck. Blood sprayed from his throat as his body collapsed to the floor.
Long Mingyang and the others were baffled, unable to understand what had happened. How could a man’s head just fly off on its own?
Only Yang Meng’s sharp eyes caught the sequence of events: the man’s head had been sliced off by a thin wire, no thicker than a strand of hair, before it flew into the air.
What kind of wire was that? It was incredibly strong!
Yang Meng said to Long Mingyang, "Old Master Long, you all need to leave quickly; this is getting troublesome. You should call the police immediately."
"And what about you?" Long Mingyang asked.
Yang Meng replied, "Actually, I wanted to leave too..."
"But none of you are going anywhere!" a cold voice drifted from the direction of the living room.
Yang Meng looked toward the sound and saw a person sitting on the dining table, swinging their legs back and forth like a child.
Where did this guy pop out from? And this look... isn't it just too tacky?
The speaker was a young man, looking to be in his early twenties. Yang Meng couldn't even describe what he looked like, mostly because his hairstyle was so 'Sarmat'—hair covering half his face, clearly copied from Iori Yagami in *The King of Fighters*!
Moreover, on such a cold day, he was wearing a sleeveless tight T-shirt and loose sweatpants, his muscles straining against the fabric.
Seeing Yang Meng and the others, he wasn't in any rush. He elegantly held a cigarette in his mouth and pulled out a lighter to light it.
"Hold it!" Yang Meng suddenly spoke up, interrupting him.
The young man paused, his hand holding the lighter, and glanced sideways at Yang Meng. "What do you want?"
Yang Meng looked helpless. "Buddy, I’m just giving you a heads-up. It’s not easy to maintain that hairstyle; don't burn your hair off while trying to look cool lighting that cigarette! There’s an idiot in the village next to mine with a similar hairstyle who burned his hair all off in one go while lighting a cigarette. We don't call him 'the idiot' anymore; we call him 'the bald idiot'! If you light that cigarette with the move you’re doing, you might just become 'the triple-bald idiot'!"
The young man’s expression stiffened. "Are you fucking messing with me?"
Yang Meng shrugged. "You’re like a dog biting Lu Dongbin—you don't recognize a good heart!"
As he spoke, he signaled to Long Mingyang with his eyes, urging them to leave quickly.
Long Mingyang wasn't stupid; he began to move quietly toward the elevator.
The young man, however, said, "I suggest you don't act rashly! I already said you aren't allowed to leave."
Upon hearing the young man’s words, Yun He reached into his pocket and put on a pair of iron knuckles. "Young man, I advise you not to act rashly either. Do not underestimate the heroes of this world!"
"Heroes of this world? Are you talking about yourself or that female ghost beside you?" the young man sneered.
"Huh?" Both Yang Meng and Yun He were stunned. This young man knew there was a female ghost here? Who on earth was he?
Just as they were distracted, the young man flicked his wrist, and Yang Meng immediately kicked Yun He aside.
"What are you doing?" Yang Meng’s kick hadn't been forceful, so Yun He wasn't hurt, but he was furious!
However, the moment he finished speaking, a 'clatter' was heard, and a solid wood shoe cabinet behind him split cleanly in two, clearly sliced by something sharp.
"Oh?" The 'Sarmat' young man glanced at Yang Meng and jumped down from the table. "You’ve got some skill!"
