Chapter Sixty-Six: Master Wan Offers a Plan
“No, the Treasure Pavilion is a must. Eight million it is. Yuan Na, prepare the contract.”
Neither woman could have imagined that Qin Jing would agree so readily at this moment. In truth, he simply needed more time to consider. Was eight million really that much? Selling a few magic stones would easily cover it. In fact, upon hearing Yuan Na’s words, Qin Jing began to entertain another idea. Xin Family Design, the company Yuan Na worked for, was a reputable interior design firm, but what he needed for his backyard was essentially a full rebuild. Although there was some overlap, they weren’t exactly specialists in this field. If he were to spend a large sum to hire a professional real estate development firm…
Just as this thought crossed his mind, Wan Anxian, who had been quietly observing, suddenly chuckled and said, “Brother Qin, are you planning to renovate this shop? I have some connections in this area. Why not let me handle the renovation for you?”
Before Qin Jing could respond, Yuan Na couldn’t help but interject, “And who exactly are you? We’re discussing business here—how did you just barge in like that?”
What a joke! Yuan Na had just heard Qin Jing agree to the proposed budget. This was an eight-million project—even for a top-tier company like Xin Family Design, this was a significant deal. Moreover, recalling the ridicule from Li Bin earlier at the office, Yuan Na was already picturing herself waving the signed contract in his face in triumph.
Qin Jing was also a bit surprised. He looked at Wan Anxian in puzzlement and asked, “Forgive my curiosity, but may I ask what business you’re in, Mr. Wan?”
He actually knew that Wan Anxian was in the household appliance business, but what did that have to do with real estate?
Wan Anxian smiled. Now that the conversation had returned to the realm of everyday affairs, he felt much more at ease. Anything that could be solved with money was hardly a problem.
“In Lenghai, I’m fairly well-known. Three years ago, I was even listed in the Forbes China Rich List. Back then, I was considered one of the city's notable figures. Although my main business is in appliances, I have a broad network. Boss Wu of Dacheng International is an old friend of mine, and I even hold shares in their company. If I step in, I can certainly bring in the most professional construction team.”
Yuan Na was truly astonished now. Her eyes widened as she stared at Wan Anxian, the more she looked, the more familiar he seemed. She vaguely recalled seeing him in the papers. Dacheng International was one of the top real estate groups in the Lenghai area. To casually mention Wu Huiteng by name and to have a stake in the company—this was truly the stature of a magnate.
Now, Yuan Na fell silent. She knew that even if her own company’s boss were present, he’d be out of his depth with someone like this.
An eight-million project—was it slipping away? Yuan Na felt a wave of despair.
“Oh, so it’s Boss Wan,” Qin Jing responded, to Yuan Na’s surprise. He merely nodded calmly and asked, “If I were to hire a professional construction team, roughly how much would it cost? After all, this is a leased property. Although my relationship with the landlord is good and my lease is quite long, if the investment is too great, perhaps it’s best to forget it.”
Wan Anxian’s heart skipped a beat at those words. Had his show of wealth backfired, causing this extraordinary man to take offense?
He quickly smiled and said, “Actually, I can help you purchase the lot outright. This is, after all, in Lenghai’s suburbs, and Erdaozi Alley has never developed much. The land price isn’t high. For just this parcel, it wouldn’t cost much.”
“No, I can’t have someone else buying the place I live. Let’s forget about that,” Qin Jing replied firmly.
Yuan Na’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. What was going on here? This big boss was offering to just buy the nearly 400 square meters of land? The land alone must be worth tens of millions! And he was just giving it away? Even more bizarre, Qin Jing actually refused!
Incredible. One man spends money like water, while the other treats money as dirt. Was she the one who couldn’t keep up with the times? The world was changing far too quickly.
“Haha, Mr. Qin is a man of principle. I mean no harm, I simply wish to purchase some items from you at a high price.”
Watching Qin Jing’s expression, Wan Anxian knew this was his only chance to buy extraordinary goods. He was extra cautious. “Of course, I don’t ask you to lift all restrictions. I only hope you’ll grant me membership status, so I can have daily access to these extraordinary materials. That alone would satisfy me.”
“Oh?” Qin Jing’s interest was piqued.
Wan Anxian continued, “Buying the land wouldn’t be expensive, especially with private land transfers in cases like this. It’s nowhere near the level of formal residential lot transactions, and there’s much flexibility. I could keep the transfer price under twenty million. Then there’s the construction. From what I’ve heard, you plan to build a Treasure Pavilion at the back, and you’ll need bedrooms. Why not simply build a private villa? In front of the villa, you could install several exhibition halls—not only would this meet your residential needs, but it would also accommodate the shop’s business. The backyard is about 200 square meters. Building a villa there would be tight, but with good planning, it’s doable, and the cost wouldn’t be high.”
“In total, about thirty million would cover everything, and I could see the whole thing through for you. In exchange, you grant me a purchase quota of ten million worth of goods. What do you think?”
After making his offer, Wan Anxian nervously watched Qin Jing, feeling as if he could hardly breathe. He knew there were risks in his calculations. For one, building a residence behind a shop would be tricky—getting approval for residential use and property certificates would be difficult and would require substantial connections and favors. Moreover, he was offering an initial loss of twenty million. But as long as he achieved his goal, it would all be worth it.
Qin Jing took a deep breath to calm his nerves. If this deal went through, he would finally have a place of his own in Lenghai, this ultra-modern metropolis.
But could it really be done this way?
He glanced at Wan Anxian and finally said, “Boss Wan, your proposal is generous, but it’s too advantageous—it doesn’t fit with my principles of fair trade.”
At these words, Wan Anxian’s body trembled. For a moment, the world seemed to go dark and he nearly fainted. After all this, he still couldn’t persuade the man? Why was this so difficult?
Even Susan, who by now had some understanding of the extraordinary world, thought Qin Jing would agree to Wan Anxian’s offer. Hearing his refusal, she nearly cried out—Jing, that’s thirty million!
Still, accustomed as she was to being passive and in a weaker position, Susan bit her tongue and remained silent.
Yuan Na was utterly stunned. She wondered if her eyes were seeing true, or if her ears had deceived her. Was she dreaming?
What had become of the world, for someone to offer thirty million worth of land and even promise to build the house, just like that? Even if you were the former richest man in Lenghai, wasn’t this a little too cutthroat? Yuan Na was lost in despair.
And what truly made her question reality was that Qin Jing still hadn’t accepted!
Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing here? Dizzying symbols seemed to spin above Yuan Na’s head…
