Lin Xiaodou’s eyes lit up as she quietly followed behind. No wonder she hadn’t been able to find anything good at the junk station—the best items had already been taken away by these people.

Perhaps it was the effect of the Divine Strength and Body Pill. Lin Xiaodou moved as lightly as a swallow, her footsteps utterly silent—perfect for tailing someone. She tracked the group all the way to a small grove on the outskirts of town. Concealing herself behind a large tree, she listened in on their conversation.

“At last, we’ve transported the goods here. The whole way, I was on edge, terrified someone might find us,” a young man said, wiping sweat from his brow, looking truly shaken.

“What are you so scared about? We’ve got powerful backers. People run the other way when they see us—no one dares to pay attention to this kind of thing!” sneered a skinny fellow nearby, unable to hide his smugness.

Someone else laughed. “We scored a ton of good stuff this time. We’ll be able to trade it for a pile of money at the black market! We can eat our fill again!”

“Exactly. I used to be a scrawny stick, barely had enough to eat. Now I’ve put on several pounds,” another chimed in.

From their conversation, Lin Xiaodou learned the truth: these people were originally a gang of aimless loafers. After joining an organization, they began to scour the area without restraint. Anything of value they found was sold secretly to the black market in exchange for money and food. From the sound of it, the rightful owner of the treasures had already been taken away and was unlikely to return.

Since that was the case, everything on the cart today would be hers. These people claimed to uphold justice, but what they truly did was loot and plunder—they were nothing but bandits. Stealing from thieves like them gave her not the slightest pang of conscience.

Lin Xiaodou began to plan her next move. The group was waiting in the woods for someone from the black market to arrive for the exchange. That meant she needed to act before the black market buyers arrived, to avoid any unexpected complications.

With her mind made up, Lin Xiaodou slipped into her hidden space. To guard against surprises, she decided to disguise herself. Conveniently, among the makeup and cosmetics she had collected earlier, there was a set of disguise masks—essentially human-skin masks. She chose one in a young man’s style and affixed it to her face; it felt cool against her skin. Once the mask was secure, she donned a men’s wig and changed into period-appropriate clothes.

Before long, the scarred young girl in the mirror had become a delicate, handsome young man. In fact, even her own parents wouldn’t have recognized her in this getup. Had she not done it herself, she might have been fooled too.

Once her disguise was complete, Lin Xiaodou exited the hidden space. The group’s idle chatter continued nearby, but now the topic had shifted.

They had been discussing business, but now their talk turned to women.

“A while back I met a young woman—pretty enough, but her temper was too fierce. I didn’t even dare approach her,” one man said.

“Come on, Skinny, you’re hopeless. The rest of us have had several women already, but you’re still a chicken,” another mocked.

“That’s right, Skinny, you need to toughen up. Give her a little something, and once you’ve had her, she’ll do whatever you say.”

“There was this one girl who played hard to get. Once I got her, I dumped her right away. She begged me, crying, but I never looked back. Heh.”

“That’s nothing. I even knocked up some broad once. Too bad she was ugly, or I might’ve married her…”

“Women care about their reputation more than their lives. We can dump them anytime, and they don’t even dare utter a word, ha ha!”

A surge of fury rose in Lin Xiaodou’s eyes. These men were utterly vile—scum of the earth! She had only planned to take their goods and leave, but now she was determined to avenge those innocent girls. She would make sure this filth would never hurt another woman again.

She was more than capable. There were only six or seven of them—not nearly enough to pose a threat. Even sixty or seventy of them might not be able to best her. The power that flowed in her body was not to be underestimated.

Lin Xiaodou summoned a baseball bat from her space, her eyes turning icy cold in an instant.

In the grove, the men were still laughing and chatting when suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a strange young man appeared. He was holding an odd-looking stick and charged straight at them. They were still stunned when he swung the bat at the head of the nearest man.

With a thud, the man collapsed instantly, unable to get up.

“What the hell—who are you? Guys, get him!” the others shouted in fury, rushing at him with raised fists. But before they could even straighten their arms, the bat crashed into their faces.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bat seemed to dance playfully across their faces, left and right. In mere minutes, all six or seven of them were battered black and blue, stars spinning before their eyes.

One burly fellow slumped to the ground, still barking, “Who the hell are you, kid? You’ve got guts hitting us! I’ll have my men raze your house to the ground!”

Lin Xiaodou’s eyes gleamed. She actually wouldn’t mind having these bandits target the Lin family.

But on second thought—why let them have it easy? She’d rather claim everything for herself. Once she dealt with everyone at the old Lin household, she’d take all their belongings too.

Now was the time to deal with this rabble—swiftly, decisively, and ruthlessly.

“Why aren’t you talking, kid? Scared or—AARGH!” The man’s taunt turned into a pig-like scream. The others looked over and saw blood gushing from his crotch—the young man had swung the bat directly between his legs!

At this, everyone’s scalp went numb. One of the more timid ones immediately began to beg for mercy: “Brother, take whatever you want, just spare me!”

Yet in the next instant, his crotch too was smashed.

A chorus of wails and shrieks filled the air. The others, terrified, turned to run, but no matter how they tried, they couldn’t outrun the madman with the bat.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of blows rang out. Every single one of them was beaten into unconsciousness, their screams echoing until they faded away.

Once they were all out cold, Lin Xiaodou quickly stowed the cart into her hidden space and left immediately.

Not long after, another group arrived. At their head was a young man with a cold, stern face. Seeing the men sprawled on the ground, someone remarked curiously, “Hey, why are Skinny and the others lying there? Weren’t they supposed to make the delivery today?”

Another stepped forward to check, then turned to the stern-faced youth with a grave expression. “Boss, they’ve all been knocked out. Looks like the goods have been stolen, too.”

“I… I also found something else…” he began hesitantly.

The young man’s eyes turned icy. “What is it?”

“Their… their privates were all smashed to pieces…”

Everyone else fell silent, a collective shudder running through them.

Good god, who could be so vicious? This was terrifying.

The young man’s face darkened, a savage glint in his eye. “Someone dares to hurt people on my turf, and steal goods from me, Zhang Tianjun? They must have a death wish! Find them! Hunt them down! I want them to die with no grave to rest in!”
