"Old man, no matter how capable the boy is, he wouldn't do anything improper. Stop worrying blindly and don't crush his confidence."

Grandfather lowered his head to take a sip of soup without refuting.

"As long as you two live comfortably, that's all that matters." After saying this, Lin Qianfan stood up to clear the table and turned into the kitchen.

Meanwhile, back in Lin Village.

A black sedan stopped at the entrance of the village, the door opened, and Lin Jiyuan stepped out of the vehicle.

"What a godforsaken place, why is it so remote?"

He frowned, looking up at the mud-brick houses in the village with a flash of disgust in his heart.

"Director Lin, are you really planning to come here in person?"

The driver followed closely behind him, walking with cautious steps, his tone filled with hesitation.

"Didn't you say it would be fine just to send someone else?"

Lin Jiyuan turned around and glared at him. "Nonsense! Can anyone else handle a matter like this properly?"

"If I've left them stranded here for all these years, paying them no mind, would the old couple leave willingly if I didn't show up myself?"

To climb even higher in his career, Lin Jiyuan had come to fetch the elderly Lin couple purely to put on a show and demonstrate how filial he was.

The driver dared not utter another word and could only nod in compliance.

Walking up to the old Lin residence, he raised his hand and knocked on the door. After knocking for quite a while, no one opened.

Suppressing his impatience, he knocked a few times more, but still, there was no response.

"Where is everyone?" Lin Jiyuan turned around and asked a villager passing by.

The villager glanced at him and answered casually, "They've moved away."

"Moved away?" Lin Jiyuan was slightly stunned. "Where to?"

"Word is their grandson bought them a house in the city, so they moved there to live."

With that, the villager hoisted a hoe over his shoulder and walked away.

Lin Jiyuan stood alone on the desolate dirt path, his face turning dark.

"Say that again, where did Old Man Lin and his wife move to?" He glared at another villager nearby.

The villager replied righteously, "They moved to the city. Your son Lin Qianfan bought them a house; they haven't lived here for ages."

Lin Jiyuan's face twitched, and a wave of irritation surged within him.

"He's just a student, where on earth would he get the money to buy a house?"

"Who knows?" The villager shrugged. "Anyway, the boy in your family has got some skills."

Lin Jiyuan's brows furrowed even deeper. "What skills could he possibly have?"

With a gloomy expression, he turned around and got back into the car.

"Lin Qianfan..." He muttered the name, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

The next day, just as Lin Qianfan stepped out of his classroom, someone blocked his path.

"Lin Qianfan, someone is looking for you." The person blocking him was an off-campus security guard.

"Who?" Lin Qianfan stopped in his tracks.

"A middle-aged man who claims to be your relative." The security guard pointed toward the school gate. "He's waiting over there."

Lin Qianfan was slightly startled, but a cold smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as realization dawned on him.

He followed the security guard to the school gate.

From a distance, he spotted Lin Jiyuan standing there, dressed in a crisp, tailored suit, arms crossed, with an unpleasant look on his face.

"Something the matter?" Lin Qianfan walked over, his tone flat.

Lin Jiyuan stared at him, looking him up and down from head to toe.

"You've certainly grown ambitious, haven't you? You've even managed to afford a house." As he spoke, a trace of sneering mockery laced his voice.

Lin Qianfan glanced at him and didn't take the bait.

"You're just a student. How could you possibly earn that much money?" Lin Jiyuan sneered. "Tell me, what kind of shady, disgraceful things have you been up to?"

Hearing this, Lin Qianfan frowned slightly.

"What kind of disgraceful things do you think I had to resort to in order to buy a house?"

"You know very well in your heart." Lin Jiyuan took a step forward, lowering his voice.

"Isn't it because you've been running some illegal business that you made so much money?"

Lin Qianfan lifted his eyes to look at him, his gaze indifferent.

"You've never given me a single cent for living expenses, yet now you question the source of my income?"

Lin Jiyuan froze for a moment, his tone turning even frostier immediately after.

"If you were actually making money through legitimate means, would you have the capability to pull this off?"

"Heh." Lin Qianfan let out a cold chuckle and turned to leave.

"Stop right there!" Lin Jiyuan shouted behind him. "I'm not finished talking!"

Without looking back, Lin Qianfan kept his pace steady and unhurried.

Furious, Lin Jiyuan's face turned livid as he watched his back disappear through the school gates through clenched teeth.

The driver standing nearby whispered a cautious reminder, "Director Lin, perhaps we should head back first? Making a scene in a place like this doesn't look good."

Lin Jiyuan pondered for a moment before speaking in a chilly voice, "Head back? I haven't even seen his grandparents yet, and you want to go back?"

The driver dared not argue, lowering his head and waiting quietly to the side.

Ultimately, Lin Jiyuan said no more, ducking back into the car and issuing an immediate command: "Drive. Go find out what the hell Lin Qianfan is up to. And also, find out where the house he bought is located—look into it thoroughly."

The driver nodded hastily, started the engine, and drove away.

Meanwhile, back in his dormitory, Lin Qianfan had barely sat down when his cell phone began to ring.

Glancing at the screen, he saw the caller ID showed Boss Liu.

"Boss Lin, are you free tonight? I'd like to treat you to dinner." The voice on the phone carried a warm, eager enthusiasm.

Lin Qianfan glanced at the time and asked, "What is it about?"

"Nothing particularly special, I just want to express my gratitude to you," Boss Liu explained with a smile.

"Supermarket business has been getting better and better lately, all thanks to your blessing. Besides, I also want to introduce you to the city's business circles and help broaden your horizons."

"The business circle?" Lin Qianfan said thoughtfully.

"Yes, there's a business mixer tonight, attended entirely by local commercial elites."

"Let me tell you, this is a rare opportunity. Normally, you'd need connections just to catch a glimpse of these people."

Boss Liu's tone carried a hint of flattery. "A young and promising man like you belongs in a setting like this!"

Lin Qianfan remained silent for a moment before agreeing, "Alright, what time?"

"Six o'clock, I'll come pick you up!"

Hanging up the phone, Lin Qianfan leaned back in his chair, recalling events from his past life.

He was far from unfamiliar with such settings; in his previous life as a business tycoon, he had attended countless banquets of this caliber.

However, given his current identity, there was no need to maintain an excessively high profile.

At six in the evening, Boss Liu's car parked punctually outside Lin Qianfan's school gate.

Dressed in a simple, well-fitted suit that gave him a clean and sharp appearance, Lin Qianfan settled into the passenger seat and asked casually, "Where is the banquet?"

"At the downtown shopping mall," Boss Liu said while driving. "That place is the most prestigious venue in our city; everyone who attends is a person of high status and influence."

Pausing for a moment, he added, "Though with my status, I usually just manage to show my face. When it comes to actually rubbing shoulders with those heavyweights, I'm still falling quite short."

Lin Qianfan didn't reply, simply gazing out the window as his mind began to calculate.

Upon arrival, the entire shopping plaza was brilliantly illuminated, with luxury cars parked densely along the entrance.

Boss Liu and Lin Qianfan stepped out of the car, looking somewhat tense as he muttered under his breath, "Any single person attending today's event could keep us running around in circles for ages. Look at that man in the blue suit over there—he's the CEO of Rongtai Real Estate, worth hundreds of millions."

Lin Qianfan swept his gaze across the scene, feeling not a single ripple of excitement in his heart.

In his past life, he had long grown accustomed to such gatherings.

Stepping into the venue, the moment they crossed the threshold, a wave of lively conversation washed over them.

The hall was filled with brightly dressed men and women, waiters weaving through the crowd holding trays, and the air carried the subtle fragrance of high-end champagne.
