Chapter 26: Misunderstanding Resolved
Ye Changzheng’s low, sensuous voice resonated beside Xie Jinyu’s ear.
Xie Jinyu had never imagined that Ye Changzheng would be so observant, noticing the slightest shift in her emotions in an instant. Even more, she had not expected him to be so forthcoming.
"Changzheng, you haven't done anything wrong."
Ye Changzheng gently loosened his grip on her. His gaze, cold as the stars, rested upon her fair and beautiful face.
Chu Tian watched him intently, feeling quite stifled. He often envied this man; even Jian Wuyou of the Sword Sect, who practiced the Forget-Sorrow Sword Path, had a carefree disposition yet still harbored hidden sorrows. But this man seemed born without a care in the world, as if nothing could ever trouble him.
Long Yuan paused with the medicinal soup in his hand, cast a glance at Imperial Physician Xu, and then knitted his brows as he downed the bitter brew.
Ouyang Song and Sui Ruoying were, after all, not professional commentators. Once they saw Hua Shang unsheathe his sword, they were immediately stunned by the sheer beauty of his "Twin Blades United, Moonlit Pool Reflection" technique, completely forgetting their commentary duties.
Mo Tianchen snapped his fingers, and two well-trained, attentive shop assistants moved to usher Ling Yiyi into the fitting room.
"You resemble her; you look seventy percent like her," Hua Hanfeng said. He looked toward Bai Yinluo again, and seeing her from such proximity sparked a flicker of obsession within him.
"Hong Shang, Yun Fu and I have urgent business to attend to. I fear we cannot chat today; we shall have to choose another time," Hua Jian said, glancing at Tong Yi before addressing Hong Shang.
"My three girls are completely bewitched by Hua Shang, so tell me, what are you going to do about it? You have to take responsibility for this," Zeng Chongjiu said sternly.
"Oh, don't mention my brother. He treated you that way yesterday and got such a scolding from my grandfather that he doesn't dare show his face to you now," Bai Ruoxin said with a giggle.
Although Xia Gan spoke until his face was flushed, Su Ying and Gu Ling remained skeptical, their eyes filled with doubt.
"He... is here too?" Hua Shang felt his leg cramp even more severely. Chu Zhinan, that fellow, actually came out of his hole in broad daylight? Hua Shang felt incredibly nervous; if he were to mess up today, would this temperamental master fly into a rage and conjure up some new trouble?
Dazed in her dream, she seemed to return to those days. She, Ye Fan, Ye Li, and Lian Tang Qiyi, armed with steel pipes and machetes, walked against the neon lights. With their feet planted firmly on the solid earth, their slender, ink-black shadows stretched out behind them—an extension of their influence, and the only company they had in their loneliness.
Jun Ninglan nodded. Since that person intended to harm him, how could he sit by and wait for death? Moreover, Ye Zhen had offered him a strategy; it would be a disservice to her kindness not to put it to use.
Cen Kexin followed her gaze toward the only exit they had left, and without hesitation, she helped her walk toward it.
Shenxing Wuhua, the son of a defector, did not originally belong with the other four, but facing the even more ruthless men in black, he had no choice but to draw closer to those who shared a bloodline. Fortunately, the others did not yet know that Shenxing Wuhua was the son of a traitor.
"Damn it, living like this is worse than being a bug." The tears in Gu Buque’s heart had already turned into an ocean.
A scarred face was nothing; it was a miracle to be alive. Xuexing applied the last piece of medical tape to Brother Yong, washed his hands, and sat down beside Bai Jieba. He had only just finished his shift, and his hair, which hadn't been cut for a long time, was still damp.
Li Zixiao loosened his grip on Qian Hao’s collar. Qian Hao collapsed to the ground like a pile of rotting meat, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth, his eyelids fluttering weakly.
"I didn't expect the Longxuan Sect to have such deep reserves." Although Ye Shaoxuan felt no pity, he was nonetheless shocked by the sheer extent of their wealth.
The brother with the keen eye had been so drunk that day he was completely senseless. When he recalled what he had said later, he sat in silent contemplation for a long time, breaking into a cold sweat.
