Chapter 35: Mr. Nice Guy
Following the property manager, Xie Yunxuan strangely entered the nearby property office.
During the walk, Xie Yunxuan silently observed the surroundings of the property building.
“We’re here,” the property manager said, giving Xie Yunxuan a smile before pushing the door open.
Xie Yunxuan followed inside the property office.
“Doctor Xie, feel free to take any seat. I’ll explain a few things to you,” the manager said.
Xie Yunxuan nodded in response, seated herself, and began subtly surveying the office environment.
“Our community has three types of apartments,” he began.
“The first type has three bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. The second type includes two bedrooms, one living room, and one bathroom.”
“There’s also a single-person apartment with one bedroom, one living room, and one bathroom.”
“As for the prices, the first type costs 200,000 Ghost Coins.”
“The second type is 120,000 Ghost Coins, and the last type is 80,000 Ghost Coins.”
Xie Yunxuan nodded upon hearing this, then asked the question she had in mind.
“What about Unit 306 in Building 2? Which type is that?”
The property manager was momentarily confused by the sudden question.
After a brief pause, he answered, “Unit 306 in Building 2 is a single-person apartment—one bedroom, one living room, one bathroom.”
“A single-person apartment? That’s great, I like it,” Xie Yunxuan said.
The manager grew increasingly bewildered. “Huh???”
“Doctor Xie, if I’m not mistaken, Unit 306 is already occupied.”
“If you like single-person apartments, you can choose from the other buildings.”
“Those are all vacant; you can pick whichever you prefer.”
Xie Yunxuan smiled and pushed aside the documents the property manager handed her.
“Property manager, I think you might need to update your records.”
She stood up, her beautiful eyes gleaming with pride, making her presence all the more bold and unrestrained.
“Unit 306 is mine now. You can check if you don’t believe me.”
Xie Yunxuan didn’t have that much money, so she was merely inquiring.
She wanted to know how much the newly acquired Unit 306 in Building 2 was worth in Ghost Coins.
After all, compared to paying outright, she preferred to snatch it from other supernatural beings.
Seeing Xie Yunxuan like this, the property manager glanced despairingly at the ceiling.
“Enough! This place is chaotic enough already! Now there’s an abnormal one living here too!”

After reviewing the information, the property manager returned the file and locked the cabinet.
He smiled at Xie Yunxuan and said, “Alright, Doctor Xie. Please, follow me.”
Xie Yunxuan smiled and nodded, then followed behind the property manager.
Under his guidance, she soon arrived at Unit 306 in Building 2.
“If you need anything, feel free to let me know, Doctor Xie. Get some rest tonight.”
“Tomorrow, some patients’ family members will come looking for you.”
“Understood,” Xie Yunxuan said, nodding.
The next moment, she took out the key and unlocked Unit 306.
Turning slightly, she gave the property manager a gentle smile before pushing the door open.
The next instant, the property manager found himself locked outside.
Inside, Xie Yunxuan began examining the living room. The overall layout was fairly tidy.
Since she planned to stay here for a while, she had certain standards for the living environment.
She then went to check the bedroom, searching thoroughly but finding nothing out of the ordinary.
Afterward, she neatly laid down on the bed in the bedroom.
Soon, she slipped into a state of light sleep.
The following morning, she was awakened by a knock on the door.
“What time is it? Why are they here so early?”

Xie Yunxuan frowned but immediately got up.
After stretching, she slipped on her slippers.
Stepping out of the bedroom, she called out, “Who is it?”
“Doctor Xie, it’s me.”
When Xie Yunxuan opened the door, she saw a handsome man with refined manners and glasses.
“Who are you?”
“My surname is Chen. You can call me Mr. Chen.”
“Sorry for bothering you so early, Doctor Xie.”
“It’s just that my wife has relapsed, and I couldn’t wait any longer, so…”
“No problem, Mr. Chen. I completely understand how you feel,” Xie Yunxuan replied.

“Of course, Doctor Xie,” Mr. Chen replied politely with a smile before leading her forward.
“Seems like Mr. Chen really loves his wife,” she thought, noting how eager he was to come find her after learning she had arrived.
But a person’s involuntary emotional responses never lie.
Mr. Chen was lying.
“Ah, Dr. Zhao, I just hope my wife can get better.”
“This time, I truly appreciate your help, Doctor Xie.”
“Once my wife recovers, I will definitely thank you properly.”
Mr. Chen’s face was filled with sorrow as he led Xie Yunxuan upstairs.
They stopped in front of Unit 408.
“Please come in, Doctor Xie. My wife is in the bedroom.”
Xie Yunxuan nodded silently and entered ahead.
Mr. Chen followed closely and opened the door to their master bedroom.
Xie Yunxuan surveyed the living room before following him inside.
When she saw the woman tied to the bed, she instinctively frowned.
The woman lay quietly, neither struggling nor making a fuss.
Xie Yunxuan frowned because the woman was too thin, her exposed limbs nothing but skin stretched over bone.
Calling Mr. Chen’s wife a mummy seemed an apt description.
Who loves his wife enough to let her be cared for like this?
Xie Yunxuan even suspected that Mr. Chen’s wife had become one of the supernatural beings purely from starvation.
