Ying Shu quickly scooped Xixi into her arms and retreated to a safe distance, then glanced toward the spot where she had been sitting. There, a man was seated—none other than Wu Ling, whom she knew.

Annoyed, she said, "Wu Ling, why do you always appear out of nowhere? You nearly scared me to death."

Startled by Ying Shu's voice, Xixi burst into tears.

"Did I scare you? Don’t cry, don’t cry," Ying Shu soothed, patting her back. Wu Ling looked at her in surprise. "You can see me?"

Ying Shu gave him a sharp look. "You’re sitting right beside me. If I couldn’t see you, then my eyes would really be blind."

"That’s not what I meant."

"What do you mean, then?" Ying Shu recalled what Wu Ling had said earlier and thought about the upgraded Celestial Master's Eye. Narrowing her eyes, she asked, "You’re not dead and turned into a ghost, are you?"

Wu Ling wore an expression of disbelief. "I’m using the invisibility ability, not dead."

Ever since he gained the power of invisibility, no one had detected his ability—Ying Shu was the first.

"Why use invisibility when you’re not in danger?"

Ying Shu remembered she had been upgrading her skills just moments ago and suddenly frowned. "Were you spying on my phone?"

"I wasn’t," Wu Ling explained. "I just came in and happened to see your phone’s screen was all blurry. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me and tried to take a closer look. Then you screamed, and you scared me just as much."

Seeing that he didn’t utter a lie, Ying Shu restrained her anger. "Don’t let it happen again."

Wu Ling was speechless. "You can see me when I’m invisible. Do you think there’ll be a next time?"

Ying Shu was left speechless.

At that moment, the attending doctor entered and reported, "Miss Ying’s younger siblings’ test results are normal, but the tumors inside have not disappeared. Tests show they are benign, but it’s uncertain whether they’ll recur. If there weren’t multiple metastatic tumors, I would recommend surgery to prevent recurrence."

Ying Shu felt this was already the best outcome. Surgery was not something she was considering.

Wu Ling appeared and said, "Since everything is stable for now, we can observe for a while and consider surgery later if needed. Ying Shu, would you like to take a walk with me before your brother and sister come back?"

Ying Shu sensed Xixi’s unease in the unfamiliar environment, so she shook her head. "It’s getting late; Xixi needs to sleep."

Seeing Xixi trembling, Wu Ling guessed she was startled by his sudden appearance.

"I’ll escort you back."

Wu Ling accompanied them to the main entrance, where a large, burly man approached.

He greeted Wu Ling, glanced at Ying Shu and company, then continued walking. But he stopped abruptly after a few steps.

"Wait a moment. Are you people from the Ying family? Is your grandfather named Ying Li?"

Ying Shu turned to the burly man. "Yes."

The man scowled angrily, "Bah! You talk about leaving the underworld behind, but just a few years later, your juniors are already tied up with the Special Investigation Bureau. I say you’re all cowards. Go back and tell Ying Li that if I see him, I’ll beat him every time. The underworld won’t let him off either. And as for you descendants, don’t think you can survive in this world, humph."

Ying Yu and Ying Xing exchanged glances.

Ying Shu felt inexplicably angry and her face darkened. "If you dare lay a finger on my grandfather, I’ll make you regret ever being born."

"You little girl, you’ve got some nerve. Today I’ll make sure you can’t survive here."

The burly man opened the bag across his chest.

Wu Ling stepped in front of Ying Shu and said coldly, "Old Lei, they’re guests invited by the Northern Boss. You’d better think twice before making a move."

Old Lei paused. "Guests invited by the Northern Boss?"

"Yes."

Old Lei was very wary of the Northern Boss. "For the Northern Boss’s sake, I’ll let you off today. Next time, you won’t be so lucky."

He snorted and slung his bag back over his shoulder, heading toward the building.

Ying Shu narrowed her eyes, and an invisible force surged out from her body toward Old Lei.

The next moment, Old Lei was slammed flying and fell hard, landing in a humiliating heap.

"Pfft."

Ying Xing and Ying Yu wanted to laugh but dared not.

"Who’s there?"

Old Lei hurriedly got up and pulled out a talisman from his bag, warily scanning his surroundings.

Wu Ling glanced at Ying Shu. "I’ll escort you back."

Ying Shu nodded.

Once in the car, she observed the energy enveloping her and guessed it was the spiritual power Su Xining had mentioned.

Back home, she went to Ying Li’s room and asked, "Grandpa, do you know a man named Old Lei?"

Ying Li’s expression froze, and he replied confusedly, "Old Lei? Who? I know many people named Lei. Which one do you mean? Did he say anything?"

Ying Shu had signed a confidentiality agreement, so she didn’t mention the Special Investigation Bureau.

After she left, Ying Li found Ying Xing.

Ying Xing told him about the Special Investigation Bureau.

"Little Shu is already involved with the Special Investigation Bureau? It seems the Ying family won’t be peaceful for a while."

Ying Li felt uneasy and messaged Qi Zhen but received no reply after an hour, so he went to bed.
