“Don’t you know?” The elderly lady immediately sensed something was wrong and was furious. “I arranged a two-day vacation at Qingxu Mountain for you two just a few days ago. Yesterday, when I asked Jin Chuan, he said he had already given you the tickets.”

Wen Ying was surprised. Lu Jin Chuan hadn’t told her anything. It was clear he didn’t want to go on the trip with her and had deliberately deceived Grandma.

“Grandma, I had something come up at the last minute, so—”

“It’s the weekend! What could possibly come up? Don’t cover for that brat. You go over there now. I’ve already arranged everything for you two. I’ll go and urge that rascal myself.”

Wen Ying tried to stop her. “Grandma, actually, he and I have already—”

“What’s going on between you two?” The elderly lady’s tone softened as she spoke.

Obviously, Grandma still didn’t know that Wen Ying and Lu Jin Chuan were about to divorce.

Lu Jin Chuan hadn’t even informed the Lu family? Otherwise, how could Grandma have arranged this for them again?

Wen Ying felt a bit frustrated.

Grandma’s blood pressure was unstable, and she had heart problems. Could it be that Lu Jin Chuan was waiting for the right time to gradually prepare Grandma mentally?

If that was the case, Wen Ying didn’t want to be the bad person who let the secret slip and caused Grandma to have a health crisis.

Anyway, the divorce papers were signed; only the certificate remained. There would be plenty of time to let Grandma accept it slowly.

After some thought, she said, “It’s fine, Grandma. I’ll go now. He told me.”

As long as she could soothe Grandma, she didn’t really intend to go.

Grandma, however, said, “I’ll send a car for you. The driver knows the way well.”

“Newlyweds need some excitement. Spend these two days rekindling your relationship. Aim for a healthy grandson by the end of the year!” The voice on the other end was full of hopeful encouragement.

Grandma didn’t give Wen Ying any chance to refuse. After hanging up, she went to make the arrangements.

Wen Ying rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on.

She understood what Grandma was thinking. They had been married for three years, but the relationship between her and Lu Jin Chuan was lukewarm—anyone could see it. Especially with no children in three years, it was hard for many traditional elders to accept.

That was why she had been trying to conceive every month during her ovulation, hoping to continue the Lu family line.

At other times, Lu Jin Chuan showed no interest in her at all.

He was very healthy, and during that week, he consistently had intercourse with her three times a night, each lasting late into the night.

She was the one struggling to keep up with the intensity.

Yet, she still hadn’t conceived.

She used to think it was because of an old injury to her uterus that made conception difficult and that treatment could eventually help.

Now, after being diagnosed with uterine cancer, all those hopes had been extinguished.

Grandma worked efficiently. The driver she sent contacted Wen Ying quickly, so Wen Ying gave the location of a supermarket near their community, hiding the fact that she and Lu Jin Chuan were living apart.

She wasn’t sure what Lu Jin Chuan’s plans were regarding the divorce, so she played it safe for now.

Getting into the car, Wen Ying didn’t contact Lu Jin Chuan.

She thought, since he didn’t tell her, it was because he didn’t want to be with her. How could he really come and accompany her for the trip?

It was better if she went alone for two days to appease Grandma.

It would be a good chance to relax.

Qingxu Mountain was quite high in altitude and featured a resort inn. Nearby, there was a ski resort where one could also watch the golden sunrise on the mountain peaks.

After checking in and pushing her luggage to the room door, Wen Ying was surprised to see two people returning from outside.

Lu Jin Chuan was walking side by side with Su Nian, chatting, her eyes curved in a smiling crescent.

Wen Ying’s gaze flickered, struck like a blow.

When Lu Jin Chuan saw her, his eyes darkened slightly, his noble face expressionless.

Su Nian, however, smiled faintly, as if she found it amusing.

Wen Ying felt an indescribable sense of embarrassment.

What did they think of her now?

“Jin Chuan, where’s the room card?” Su Nian didn’t greet Wen Ying; she thought it unnecessary.

Lu Jin Chuan handed her the card, and she went straight into the adjacent room, leaving the door ajar, clearly for Lu Jin Chuan to enter.

They were sharing a room?

Lu Jin Chuan looked at Wen Ying. “Grandma told you?”

“Yes,” Wen Ying replied.

“Why don’t you change rooms?” His eyes were as cold as ice.

Though it was a question, it carried a commanding tone.

Wen Ying understood what he meant: he and Su Nian were staying next door. If they intended to do anything intimate, having the still-official wife next door would be disgusting.

If she came over now, it would be she who was out of place.
