Chapter 49: Wild King Qing (Seeking monthly tickets, ongoing reads, and collections)
"Master, how do I get to Changpingshan Park?"
On her way to Changpingshan Pet Park, Yu Xueqing walked with difficulty and stumbled along. Especially when she arrived at a fork in the road, Yu Xueqing was completely baffled.
This was because she could not find any navigation route map for Changpingshan Pets on her map app.
Although Yu Xueqing had never kept pets before, when she came back from summer vacation last year, she and her best friend from high school had been to Changping Pets.
She had a wonderful time there cuddling dogs and petting exotic animals.
Just the day before yesterday, Yu Xueqing had been asking her high school best friend about Changpingshan Pet Park.
That pet park hadn't closed down, and business was actually quite good.
Yet no matter how hard Yu Xueqing searched on the navigation app, TuanTuan, or review apps, she simply could not find its location.
With no other choice, Yu Xueqing could only hold her little fox and ask for directions right in front of the fork in the road.
"Moo—"
A big water buffalo in the field heard Yu Xueqing asking for directions with an expression full of expectation. The buffalo froze for a moment, as if pondering something, and then tilted its head to the left.
"Should I go left? Thank you, Master Buffalo."
Having obtained the answer she wanted, Yu Xueqing eagerly got back into her car and drove toward the left road.
An Sheng's eyelids twitched slightly, and he couldn't help saying:
"Ah Qing... Can't we just stand at the intersection for a little while and ask a normal person for directions?"
Although An Sheng knew that Yu Xueqing seemed to have an extra function plugin installed in her brain, allowing her to communicate with animals and transmit images to small creatures,
he always felt that asking animals for directions was an absurd thing that defied the laws of nature.
An Sheng wasn't afraid of taking the wrong road, but Yu Xueqing's little car was merely a Wuling vegetable-market electric car.
Although it claimed to have a range of one hundred and seventy kilometers, that one hundred and seventy kilometers applied only to perfect road conditions.
If Ah Qing's car could manage one hundred and fifty, An Sheng would have to thank the heavens, the earth, and the cyber-flesh bodhisattva for their blessing.
An Sheng had never pushed an electric car before, and he didn't really want to try what pushing an electric car felt like.
"Have some confidence in me! They won't lie to me!"
Hearing the worry in An Sheng's soft whimpers, Yu Xueqing immediately spoke with full confidence:
"Look, isn't Changpingshan Pet Park written right there on the billboard ahead?"
As the car drove along the road, a directional sign reading "Pet Park" stood by the roadside.
Seeing this, Yu Xueqing pointed it out to An Sheng, signaling their little fox to look at the sign to prove she wasn't lying to him.
"Ah Qing... Are the requirements for small pet foxes in the city so high nowadays?"
An Sheng glanced out of the car window and made a sarcastic remark.
Among the foxes, only he knew how to read. Asking other foxes to look at road signs—wasn't that making things difficult for a little fox?
...
The little car continued driving along the road for another five kilometers, and the human and the fox finally saw their destination.
Changpingshan Pet Park was built against the mountain, in a relatively remote location close to the riverbank. The entrance decoration looked just like that of a normal amusement park.
There was a parking lot in front of the gate with about a hundred parking spaces, but as it was approaching ten o'clock, only a little over twenty cars were sparsely parked there.
Changpingshan Pet Park.
It didn't seem to be thriving with a booming business as Ah Qing had claimed earlier; to An Sheng's eyes, it even felt somewhat desolate.

As they walked up to the ticket office counter, warning slogans in red characters on a black background were posted on the ticket window.
"Miss, why does it feel like this here..." Yu Xueqing no longer had her previous bubbling enthusiasm. Upon seeing the warning slogans in front of the ticket window, a chill inexplicably arose in the depths of her heart.
The young lady playing dead inside the ticket window saw tourists with a pet approaching, and hastily snapped out of her game-playing state, wearing a smile:
"Hello, how can I help you?"
"Our Changping Pet Park has just been renovated. The tickets, which originally cost one hundred and thirty, are now only eighty. This includes one pet grooming session, two hours of park access, and an extra complimentary tea pastry set worth eighty yuan."
"This is our promotional package after the new renovation."
"So it's newly renovated and reopened!"
Yu Xueqing's face showed a sudden realization as she said, "No wonder I felt like it wasn't as bustling as before..."
"Then those slogans on the window..."
The ticket seller said with a helpless expression: "It's no secret, really. Truth be told, our Changpingshan Pet Park didn't actually want to renovate."
"But a while ago, in the mountain recess ahead, a group of fishermen claimed they were fishing for some monster fish. As a result, out of eight people in a van, three died, having been counter-killed by the fish."
"One was dragged into the river, and the other two drowned while trying to go into the river to save him."
"The Public Security Bureau cordoned off the mountain for more than ten days to search for the bodies and hunt down and clear out that fish in the river. I heard it was some kind of foreign fish released by someone, which could grow up to one meter eighty and weigh nearly a hundred catties."
The young ticket seller said helplessly, "Anyway, business has been dead, and combined with the aging facilities, our boss decided to renovate the place."
"As for exotic pets like the one you're keeping, little girl, you should know how destructive they can be."
"Especially the excitement level of foxes—if you pet their belly, they act like they're about飞天 (fly to the heavens). Once they go wild, they want to take a bite out of whatever they see."
"We only reopened the day before yesterday, and tickets haven't even been listed on the navigation maps or TuanTuan yet."
"A fox's excitement level is high?"
Yu Xueqing looked utterly bewildered, picked up the little fox, and reached out to pinch the little fox's belly.
An Sheng rolled his eyes, raised his paw, and pressed down on the back of Yu Xueqing's hand, signaling her to remain calm and steady.
Yu Xueqing: ".........."
The little fox's excitement level wasn't high at all!
Aside from its high aesthetic value, its favorite thing to do was roll its eyes.
"Well... fine! I'd like to buy a ticket."
Yu Xueqing thought to herself that since she had already come all this way, surely she couldn't just turn back without doing anything, right?
Inside Changpingshan Pet Park, besides some pets brought by tourists, the park itself actually raised a large number of different pets to accompany visitors.
They accompanied guests in playing, eating, and laughing.
Tourists could freely pet and touch them, but if they wanted to feed those little gas-canister-like animals, they had to buy snacks from the pet park and couldn't use their own.
After stamping a seal on An Sheng's little butt, the young ticket seller instructed them with a hint of worry:
"We are surrounded by mountains and water here, and in the past, many fishermen even ran over here to buy tickets and fish."
"Let me confirm with you once more, you really didn't bring any fishing gear or anything like that, right?"
"I don't know how to fish!" Yu Xueqing shook her head.
"Then I wish you a pleasant time." The young ticket seller greeted them with a full smile.
"Ying ying ying?"
An Sheng looked sideways in utter bewilderment, staring at the blue stamp on his little butt.
Why are you stamping a quarantine mark on my butt?
Wasn't it Ah Qing who bought the ticket? If an admission stamp was needed, shouldn't it be stamped on her hand instead?
Then, An Sheng suddenly realized something was amiss.
In the pet park, the little pets visiting were the ones that needed tickets.
Yu Xueqing was merely accompanying him.
Therefore...
Stamping the mark on himself actually seemed quite reasonable?
"Hello, please come over here for an inspection."
Upon entering Changpingshan Pet Park, just as they stepped through the entrance, An Sheng and Yu Xueqing were called to a halt by a female staff member.
Changping Pet Park had been operating for many years and already had a very standardized entry procedure.
Pets were required to undergo a small physical examination when entering the park.
"Ying?"
Seeing the cotton swabs and test strips on the tabletop, An Sheng's pupils instantly constricted in absolute shock and dismay:
"What the heck! I paid money to enter the amusement park! And you still want to prick my finger and my big butt?"
"Don't you come over here! Careful or I'll completely defy the laws of nature and poke your big butt with a cotton swab!"
An Sheng hurriedly scrambled behind Yu Xueqing.
