Chapter 30: Why Was Wang Yifei Like That?
Zhao Jinchou opened the private message Li Xiaohong had sent her.
“Sister Jinchou, I won a bronze voucher. The system says it’s a pretty good thing. The odds were one in a thousand, and it can also be exchanged for lots of limited-edition items. I’ll give it to you. Will you come with me to save my brother? Waaaaah!”
The message had been sent yesterday.
Afraid that Zhao Jinchou would refuse, Li Xiaohong had transferred the voucher to her through the system, directly expressing her sincerity.
Zhao Jinchou asked the system, “What can this voucher be exchanged for?”
System: “Advanced Appraiser,” “Single-Use Item: Teddy Bear Toy,” “Single-Use Item: Mental Recovery Buff,” “Single-Use Item: Ma Liang’s Magic Brush”… Thirteen items in total.
Zhao Jinchou raised an eyebrow. “Are any of them sold in the shop?”
System: “No. They are priceless because they cannot be purchased.”
She opened each item one by one to examine its properties.
“Teddy Bear Toy: Can block one fatal injury.”
“Ma Liang’s Magic Brush: Whatever you imagine in your mind can be drawn, and the drawn object will become real.”
And so on.
After looking through everything, Zhao Jinchou discovered that only the first item was permanent.
“What is this?”
System: “The Advanced Appraiser can inspect the basic data of enemy monsters and allied humans, as well as the data they reveal at the scene.”
“For example, you possess an S-rank talent. If you do not reveal your talent skill, the appraiser will be unable to detect your rank. It can only inspect your mental and physical values.”
Zhao Jinchou raised an eyebrow. “It can appraise monsters too?”
System: “Correct.”
Zhao Jinchou asked, “Is a bronze voucher difficult to obtain?”
System: “A newcomer lottery held during a limited-time event. Among five thousand tickets, there is one gold voucher, one silver voucher, and one bronze voucher. The winning rate is three in five thousand.”

Zhao Jinchou: “How come I didn’t get one?”
System: “There are sixty thousand probationary workers, but only five thousand lottery opportunities. You were not selected.”
Zhao Jinchou raised an eyebrow.
This was an exceptionally rare bronze voucher for newcomers.
Her thoughts turning, she looked back at the panel. Without even asking what task Li Xiaohong wanted her to undertake, she clicked Accept.
System: “Ding!”
“You have received a bronze voucher.”
System: “Ding!”
“You have exchanged the voucher for an Advanced Appraiser.”
“Ding. Worker Zhao Jinchou has obtained the permanent item—Advanced Appraiser.”
System: “Ding!”
“You have accepted Li Xiaohong’s invitation and decided to work an illicit job with her.”
“The mission is about to begin. Please go alone to a safe place and do not let anyone discover you.”
Zhao Jinchou raised an eyebrow. “That fast?”
She quietly slipped out through the back door of the classroom. Once she had passed the corner, she sent Qi Yan a message:
“I’ve taken a small job. I may be unreachable for a while.”
System: “Ding. Successful login to the minor world.”
Zhao Jinchou looked up.
She discovered that nothing around her had changed.
System: “Ding. Current mission issued.”
“Due to certain unforeseen circumstances, this world has been reproduced exactly, on a one-to-one basis, from the world in which the worker resides.”

“Reminder: You are now inside the mission world.”
“Reminder: This is a limited-time instance that appeared by chance.”
“Please contact the mission issuer, Ms. Li Xiaohong, as soon as possible.”
A map appeared on the panel, with one location specifically marked in red: Qingning No. 1 High School.
…
“Qingning No. 1 High School is the university-preparatory school in City B with the highest rate of advancement to higher education. Last year, nearly seventy percent of its students were admitted to undergraduate programs, while almost ten percent were admitted to the top two universities.”
“Qingning No. 1 High School is best known for its experimental class. The class has fifty students, all ranked among the top fifty in the entire grade.”
“The legendary class of academic prodigies—the pride of Qingning No. 1 High School.”
“Wang Yifei was one of its members.”
…
Ding-dong, ding-dong.
At noon, the class dismissal bell rang at Licheng No. 1 High School.
Outside the gates of Qingning No. 1 High School, Zhao Jinchou had changed into its school uniform—the uniform Li Xiaohong had brought her.
She lowered her head and glanced at her phone. It was nine-thirty in the morning.
Beside her, Li Xiaohong stood with her hair tied into two ponytails, watching her anxiously.
Zhao Jinchou asked, “Is there something you want to say?”
Li Xiaohong clutched a small pink turtle shell in her hands.
“Sister, I’m worried about my brother and the others.”
