Chapter 3: Cruise Ship at Sea 2

Caught off guard by her question, the System paused for a few seconds before responding:

[Reminder: Each of the nine workers in this plane is issued an intern badge. Please protect your badge carefully; if it is lost, you will bear the consequences.]

Zhao Jinchu acknowledged this and began to inspect herself. She was still wearing the clothes she had on when she left home that morning; her phone and tissues were still in her pockets. Nothing was missing, but two new items had appeared.

One was a black electronic wristwatch, and the other was a name tag on a lanyard with a blue strap. The tag read: [Infinity Corporation Worker · Intern · Zhao Jinchu · No. 3358].

Ding! [Intern Equipment]
[1. Electronic Mental Health Monitor
Function: Detects mental state. If your sanity value drops significantly or falls below 60, you will be alerted.
2. Name Tag
Function: Proof of identity; you are a part of our Infinity Corporation.]

She turned her gaze to Qi Yan and looked him up and down. "Do you have anything extra?"

Qi Yan thought for a moment and pulled a large blue diamond from his pocket.

Zhao Jinchu stared at the object for a long time. "This... it's fake, right?"

"Someone gave it to me," Qi Yan replied, his expression listless. "I wanted to crack a walnut, and someone shoved this into my hand to use as a hammer."

He dropped it onto the deck, where it landed with a heavy thud.

System: [Detection complete: 30-carat Heart of the Ocean. Authentic.]

Zhao Jinchu: ...

She hurriedly bent down to pick up the Heart of the Ocean. This thing must be worth a fortune, right? The moment her fingers touched it:

[Ding! Congratulations on obtaining this world’s unique item: Blade of the Ocean.]

Zhao Jinchu stared at the diamond.

System: [Function: The Blade of the Ocean is born from the sea and possesses a restraining effect against marine creatures.]
[Usage: Grasp the Heart of the Ocean for three seconds.]

Zhao Jinchu followed the instructions, and instantly, a deep blue dagger appeared in her hand. Her pupils dilated slightly.

Qi Yan also seemed to be seeing it for the first time, leaning against Zhao Jinchu to get a closer look.

System: [Reminder: This item is only effective within this instance.]

She opened her palm, and the dagger reverted back into the Heart of the Ocean. Seeing no one around, she silently tucked it into her pocket.

She turned to him and continued, "Anything else? Do you have a name tag like mine?"

Qi Yan looked down at himself. His collar was empty; there was nothing there.

Zhao Jinchu frowned and muttered, "You don't have the electronic watch either? How is that possible? Didn't the System say everyone gets one? Did you lose it?"

Qi Yan wore an innocent expression, clinging to her without a word.

Just then, the man who had been confessing earlier came rushing over in a rage. Upon seeing Zhao Jinchu, he pointed a finger at her and cursed, "Do you have any sense of first-come, first-served? I saw it first! Why are you snatching it?"

Qi Yan tilted his head, his gaze landing on the collar of the man’s shirt. There hung a tag identical to Zhao Jinchu’s: [Infinity Corporation Worker · Intern · Zeng Nian · No. 3110].

Qi Yan’s eyes reddened slightly, his lashes fluttering as he looked remarkably docile. He whispered into Zhao Jinchu’s ear, "Can I wear that one?"

Zhao Jinchu pondered. It didn't seem impossible.

The two exchanged a glance.

A few minutes later, the man was knocked unconscious by Zhao Jinchu and dragged into a nearby storage room. When the pair reappeared on the deck, Qi Yan had the [Intern · Zeng Nian] badge hanging around his neck.

They had not only taken his badge but his electronic watch as well. Unfortunately, Qi Yan disliked wearing accessories; he toyed with the watch for a moment before tossing it into a trash can.
