Chapter 49: My Enemies Are Usually Not Very Lucky
Shouting was, of course, entirely useless.
Watching as the uniqueness of "Error" was about to expose her to the gaze of those mighty, tyrannical, and utterly unreasonable Ancient Gods, Hermione made a decisive split, tearing a mental avatar directly from her own spiritual body!
Originally, she had only intended to use this mental avatar to draw away the attention of the uniqueness of "Error."
Never had she expected that the spirit would be swallowed in one single gulp by the "Error" uniqueness, which was currently searching for its "mother."
It directly merged into that illusory ring!
After devouring Hermione's mental avatar, the uniqueness of "Error" actually seemed as though it had been bestowed with life, becoming far more active!
The image of the twelve-segment ring grew much more solid, as if giving birth to an infant-like consciousness.
In some profound, ethereal realm, Hermione sensed that she now shared a deep connection with these twelve rings, capable of feeling emotions emanating from them.
At this moment, the uniqueness of "Error" sensed malicious prying eyes from a vast distance.
Because of this, although it still displayed a feeling of attachment toward Hermione, it also manifested fear and a desire to escape.
"Then hurry up and run!" Hermione screamed frantically in the depths of her heart.
Perhaps hearing Hermione's inner plea, after expressing a lingering reluctance to part with her, the uniqueness of "Error" truly vanished from that place in the blink of an eye.
Could she really be this lucky? Hermione found it somewhat hard to believe.
Although the figure of the uniqueness of "Error" was now lost from her sight, in a hazy, indistinct way, Hermione could sense its departure. She remained linked to the perception of the uniqueness of "Error," feeling two incomparably formidable auras pursuing it into the distance.
Hermione let out a mentally exhausted sigh of relief, yet an unwarranted trace of anxiety welled up in her heart.
Hermione frowned vigilantly, knowing that this anxiety regarding the uniqueness of "Error" stemmed from the influence of the Heavenly Venerable's will...
As expected of a pillar-level supreme being, even in death, it could still exert a certain degree of influence over her emotional and mental perception through the uniqueness of "Error."
However, the ending had at least not deviated from her expectations...
The uniqueness of "Error" had shouldered the aura of the Sefirah Castle on Amanises and run away.
She and Amanises had both successfully advanced.
The Ancient Gods who mutually balanced and restrained one another—especially the King of Demonic Wolves and the Giant King—would inevitably go completely mad due to the appearance of the uniqueness of "Error" and the aura of the Sefirah Castle, thus carving out a breathing space of growth for them. Hermione could certainly not forget the Giant King's "benevolence" regarding discussing the future of humanity with her.
"The ending is good after all." Shaking her head to dismiss the thought of whether the activated uniqueness of "Error" could escape from the two Ancient Gods, Hermione stood in the clearing where the Church of Bones had vanished, searching for the figure of Amanises.
Just moments ago, the uniqueness of "Error" had caused such a massive commotion that it nearly disrupted all their scheming, yet under such edge-of-death circumstances, Amanises had not made a move at all.
Amanises seemed rather too calm...
A bad premonition arose in the depths of Hermione's heart.
Darkness, possessing the authorities of Concealment and Sleep, still enshrouded the Illusa Tribe, but Hermione of the Three-Faceted Sanctuary now possessed corrupted power, allowing her to walk willfully through the darkness-shrouded Illusa Tribe without being hypnotized.
Soon, she found Amanises, who was in a poor state and exhibiting a partial mythical creature form.
Prostrate in the darkness, Amanises was supported by eight legs, while black hair intertwined with densely packed eyes continuously sprouted from her body and her eight legs.
This was a further transformation into a demonic wolf...
This was not Amanises's mythical creature form, but rather a mad mutation!
The sight of this stirred a sense of anxiety in Hermione's heart.
Yet, rationally, she restrained the impulse to step forward and touch Amanises.
Instead, relying on the extraordinary observational abilities of the Spectator pathway—which had not vanished despite her switching pathways—she searched for the cause of Amanises's loss of control.
It was not the influence of the Sefirah Castle; the Sefirah Castle had completely abandoned Her the moment Amanises advanced to become a Calamity Priest...
Nor was it the loss of control caused by advancing to Calamity Priest.
Hermione released her mental body, searching for any possible answers within this ocean of collective subconsciousness.
Perhaps because she shared a deep connection with Amanises, she actually accomplished the equivalent of finding a needle in a haystack, discovering the answer to Amanises's loss of control.
"It is the backlash of the 'Calamity' authority!"
Hermione wore a stunned expression. Amanises had used the "Calamity" authority to directly influence her own luck in this area and during this timeframe, maximizing the misfortune of the people or events hostile to her, which was equivalent to adjusting her own luck to the absolute optimum.
That was why she had been so fortunate as to activate the uniqueness of "Error," why she had been so fortunate as to evade the attention of the deities, and why she had been so fortunate as to find the cause of Amanises's loss of control from the ocean of collective subconsciousness...
Events that should have possessed an infinitesimally small probability had all materialized into reality under the influence of Amanises's Calamity authority.
Yet, using a Sequence 1 status to forcibly influence luck involving the divine level—even through indirect interference—had directly caused Amanises's mind to teeter on the verge of collapse, with her physical body beginning to mutate.
If she were a Sequence 1 "Fairytale Author," possessing the same status, Hermione could have directly slipped into the subconsciousness of Amanises in this state, tampered with Her mental state, and then halted the mutation by sustaining Her mind.
However, Hermione currently lacked the capability to accomplish such a feat entirely.
High status... the Spectator pathway...
Hermione furrowed her brows deeply.
She recalled that the Chaos Sea sat at the apex of all five pathways.
If she borrowed the power of the Chaos Sea, she could completely elevate the potency of her Spectator pathway abilities despite her Sequence 3 status.
She might even surpass Sequence 3, borrowing the abilities of the Spectator Sequence 2 "Discerner"...
"I am currently in a state of overflowing luck, perhaps I can..."
Hermione did not consider abandoning the verge-of-loss-of-control Amanises and fleeing directly. Putting aside the fact that she was incapable of such an action, she wouldn't be able to outrun a monster corrupted and mutated from a Calamity Priest anyway.
Fortunately, she had propagated her faith within the tribe beforehand; otherwise, Hermione truly wouldn't have dared to touch the complete divinity of a Sequence 2.
Time was pressing. Hermione settled her mind, actively linking to the Blasphemy Slate, and drove the power belonging to the Chaos Sea through it.
Under the blessing of the Chaos Sea, her mental body—which had just been blocked by Amanises's subconscious—could now sense a faint feedback.
"I've reached Sequence 3, but I'm just a hair's breadth away from Sequence 2," Hermione sighed. Her status fell a hair short of her expectations, but it also eliminated the risk of the "Original Creator" awakening directly within her body. Perhaps this, too, was the influence of the "good fortune" bestowed by Amanises.
Infiltrating the subconscious of Amanises the Calamity Priest with this status carried extreme danger, but at least she had the capability to enter...
Hermione took a deep breath, forcing her mental body to intently listen to the faint response from Amanises's subconscious, and then squeezed herself into the slightly cracked fissure of Amanises's mind island.
