Chapter 41: Kill Those Who Disrespect You? Aching All Over
After killing the Cat God, Li Yan returned once more to the side of the eerie boss.
He knelt beside the eerie boss, lowered his head, and said, "Boss, the matter is settled. What are your further instructions for your subordinate?"
The eerie boss pondered for a moment, then handed Li Yan a pitch-black key.
With a solemn tone, the boss commanded, "Go to the dungeon, use the key to unlock the door, and release the humans imprisoned in there. Bring them before me."
Li Yan accepted the black key from the eerie boss's hand and followed his memories to the location of the dungeon.
Roughly a hundred people were imprisoned within the vast dungeon, their bodies pierced through by iron chains.
They were covered in numerous wounds.
Upon seeing Li Yan, they immediately dropped to their knees, kowtowing and continuously begging Li Yan to spare their lives.
However, Li Yan was currently like a machine devoid of emotion, utterly incapable of choosing to disobey the eerie boss's orders.
The area around the dungeon was rampant with black resentment; wails and shrieks echoed endlessly, and the ground was soaked in dark red blood.
The walls were covered in blood-red footprints.
Not only that, but there were also numerous fragments of bones and severed arms scattered about.
Seeing this sight, Li Yan felt no sense of strangeness. He only felt as though he had been here many times before.
Li Yan released them from their confinement.
Once set free, those people immediately attempted to flee.
However, the iron chains binding them were held firmly in Li Yan's grasp, leaving them completely unable to escape.
Being dragged along, they were brought to the Hall of Terrors.
Upon seeing these people, the eerie boss said nothing.
Doing nothing at all, he simply looked them over and then asked, "Which two of you are Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing?"
Upon hearing the eerie boss ask for these two names, the crowd suddenly erupted into fierce discussion.
In an instant, everyone was pretending to be these two individuals.
Only two people appeared to be enduring in silence throughout.
Because they were truly Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing.
When they had seen that the one coming to capture them was Li Yan, they had already cried out for help.
Yet from Li Yan's reaction, they already knew that their son no longer remembered them at all.
Therefore, now that the eerie entity suddenly brought up their names, it was bound to bring no good fortune.
Still, the eerie boss easily identified the two who showed no reaction as the ones he sought.
Using his supernatural energy, he detached Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing from the chains and healed their battered bodies.
Then, with a faint smile, he invited them over to sit.
He poured two cups of tea for them and said, "Your son is now one of my subordinates.
I will provide you with a new residence, with good food and drink."
The moment Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing heard the eerie boss's words, they understood his true meaning.
The eerie boss intended to imprison them and use them as leverage.
Yet they had no other choice.
The eerie boss instructed other eerie entities to take Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing away.
After they left, the eerie boss conjured a massive cauldron out of thin air.
Then, he threw all the remaining captives directly into the cauldron.
Turning to Li Yan, he commanded, "Watch the fire here. If any of the food inside tries to escape, throw them back in."
Boiling blood churned within the cauldron.
The eerie boss made Li Yan tend to the firewood here.
The people inside suffered excruciating pain.
Yet even if they struggled their way out, Li Yan would grab them and throw them back in once again.
Thus the cycle repeated endlessly.
Eventually, the people inside the cauldron all ceased their struggling.
Right at that moment, the eerie boss returned from outside.
He glanced at the contents of the cauldron and nodded in deep satisfaction.
Without delay, he told Li Yan to leave.
Li Yan departed from the place and returned to his own medical clinic.
No sooner had he returned to his clinic than he saw a long queue already formed outside.
Li Yan skillfully began receiving patients.
After examining just a few eerie entities, these creatures directly started making trouble for Li Yan.
Pointing at Li Yan's nose, they cursed furiously, "What kind of damn eerie doctor are you, treating patients so slowly? Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting in line?"
Without further ado, they stormed directly into Li Yan's clinic and surrounded him.
Li Yan loosened his wrists and ankles, glared at them, and issued a warning, "I advise you all you'd better not provoke me. Otherwise, even if I kill you, the boss won't say a word."
Those eerie entities sneered as they looked at Li Yan, then said with utter contempt, "You think you're hot stuff just because the boss favors you? The few of us refuse to submit."
The moment those words left their mouths, the surrounding creatures chimed in one after another.
"Exactly, exactly! Nobody even knows what skills this guy has. By what right is he the second-in-command of the eerie world?"
"Who knows what the boss even sees in him?"
"Today, we'll kill him together and take the credit in front of the boss."
Hearing their words, Li Yan grew even more furious.
He wanted to make a move to teach them a lesson, but right at that moment, the eerie boss suddenly appeared.
As soon as the eerie boss manifested, all the eerie entities dropped to their knees before him.
Staring angrily at these creatures, the eerie boss demanded, "I heard you refuse to submit?"
Hearing the boss's words, these entities foolishly assumed the boss had come to back them up.
They nodded one after another, expressing their insubordination.
To their absolute shock, the eerie boss glared straight at them and declared, "Li Yan is someone I personally promoted; I will not tolerate any of your defiance.
Disrespecting him is equivalent to disrespecting me, and you must die. Li Yan, kill them all."
Upon hearing the eerie boss's command, Li Yan stood frozen in shock, seemingly caught off guard by how deeply the boss valued him.
Tears welled up in his eyes; then he nodded, and his slaughter began.
Those eerie entities were swiftly and utterly slaughtered by Li Yan.
At this, the remaining eerie entities all around wisely shut their mouths, and not a single one dared to utter another dissenting word.
Seeing that they had all grown obedient, the eerie boss walked over to Li Yan, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "In the future, if anyone opposes you or disobeys your orders, kill them directly. There is no need to ask for my permission."
Li Yan nodded and replied, "Understood."
With that, the eerie boss departed.
Li Yan resumed treating the other patients.
At last, the final patients to arrive for treatment were Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing.
They appeared extremely nervous.
Looking at Li Yan, they whispered, "We are ill; we cannot remember our past memories."
Having said this, they glanced around, ensuring no other eerie entities had appeared.
Upon hearing their words, Li Yan showed no signs of his memories being awakened; he merely replied, "I do not treat human amnesia. Return whence you came."
Li Wangxi and Wang Yanjing felt a pang of disappointment. It seemed they still had no choice but to risk everything.
They turned and left to ponder another way.
Yet no sooner had they returned to their dwelling than a bone-deep, piercing agony wracked their entire bodies—a pain that seemed to warn them against speaking too much, and to remind them that they were being watched at every single moment.
