Li Yan was frantic.

At this rate, he thought, I’m going to be tortured to death.

He truly did not want to survive the apocalypse game only to die here. Miserably, he begged for mercy within his own consciousness.

“Please, let me go. I know I was wrong.”

This time, his plea worked.

The mist surrounding Li Yan vanished, and he returned to normal.

The wounds on his body, however, remained.

He could move again.

Terrified, he collapsed onto the floor and gasped for breath.

He had never imagined that even after returning to the real world, such a terrifying existence could still be waiting for him.

After resting for a while, Li Yan quickly opened the door and brought in the black box that had been left outside.

He carefully closed the door behind him.

Then he placed the black box on the table.

For a moment, he hesitated over whether to open it.

But since he had already brought it inside, he decided he might as well take a look.

He opened the black box swiftly, then immediately retreated five meters away.

What if there was a bomb inside?

After waiting for a while and seeing that nothing exploded, he finally dared to approach and inspect it.

Inside the black box, Li Yan found a blood-red envelope and a pitch-black dagger.

There was also something resembling a sphere.

Somewhat surprised, Li Yan opened the envelope first.

The message inside read:

Dear Mr. Li Yan,

Congratulations on successfully surviving the Apocalypse Game.

I have great confidence in your abilities. If you are willing, use this envelope to contact me at midnight tomorrow.

I will grant you an entirely new identity.

In addition, allow me to introduce the pitch-black dagger. It can help you absorb resentment and negative energy, allowing you to grow stronger.

Once the sphere accumulates enough energy, it can explode to protect you.

Consider these two items your reward.

If you refuse, you will certainly regret it.

The letter was signed:

The Terrifying Abomination.

Li Yan was furious when he finished reading. Wasn’t this just a case of escaping the wolf’s den only to enter the tiger’s lair?

And yet, beneath his anger was a trace of excitement.

Perhaps his parents, after passing through the game, had also accepted the invitation and begun living this kind of life.

Of course, he had to give it a try.

Maybe he would be able to find his parents.

And if he could not, he would avenge them, grow stronger, and exterminate every abomination.

That was what Li Yan resolved to do.

He put the items away and stored the box.

He wanted to continue resting, but his stomach chose that moment to growl.

With no other choice, Li Yan took the dagger and his knife and left the house.

He proceeded cautiously down the street.

The streets were even more desolate than before. Corpses lay everywhere, and there were hardly any living people left.

Zombies could be seen everywhere.

Before long, several zombies spotted Li Yan.

They surrounded him once more, shrieking to attract their companions from the surrounding area.

Seeing this, Li Yan could not help remembering how helpless he had been when he first took part in the Abomination Selection.

But now, he was not nervous in the slightest.

He summoned his clones and, together with them, attacked the zombies with their short daggers.

The zombies were quickly stabbed to death.

Li Yan emerged without a scratch and hurried away from the scene.

He soon arrived at a restaurant.

Pushing open the door, he walked inside.

When the owner saw Li Yan, his eyes lit up, and he even seemed to be drooling.

Despite that, he still did not come forward to greet him.

Confused, Li Yan asked, “What do you have to eat? I’m hungry.”

The owner did not immediately bring him a menu.

Instead, he demanded that Li Yan remove all his clothes so he could inspect him.

Li Yan was speechless, but he understood that this place was unusual.

The owner probably did not want to let a zombie inside to eat. After all, those things were extremely dangerous.

Li Yan obediently cooperated with the inspection.

Even so, he could not shake the feeling that the owner was looking at him as if he were food.

The owner’s fingernails lingered over his body for a long time before finally pulling away.

Then the man smiled and said, “Sorry for the offense.”

Li Yan shook his head to show that it was fine.

The owner brought over the menu.

Li Yan frowned as he looked through it. The prices were outrageous, and he had never heard of a single one of the dishes.

He had no idea what to order.

Perhaps noticing Li Yan’s predicament, the owner smiled broadly and recommended, “Handsome, why not try our signature dish, soy-sauce chicken? Everyone who comes here says it’s delicious.”

Li Yan thought it over. That seemed fine enough.

“All right, I’ll have that. And bring me a few other dishes as well. I want rice too.”

The owner gazed at him with a beaming smile before replying, “You got it. But our restaurant requires payment first. Thirty silver dollars.”

Li Yan clicked his tongue inwardly, but not wanting to cause trouble, he handed over the thirty silver dollars.

The moment the owner received the money, he transformed into an obsequious flatterer.

He showered Li Yan with one compliment after another until Li Yan grew embarrassed.

Still, Li Yan always felt that although the owner was praising him, his gaze was far from friendly—as if he might devour Li Yan the very next second.

It was deeply unsettling.

After a while, the food was served.

Li Yan began to eat.

The taste was actually quite good.

The owner stood there the entire time, staring at Li Yan as he ate, which made him uncomfortable.

So Li Yan said, “Boss, you don’t have to stand here watching me the whole time. I’ve already paid. Once I’m done eating, I’ll go home.”

But the owner did not leave.

He merely stood silently to one side, pretending not to be paying attention to Li Yan.

There was nothing Li Yan could do, so he simply sped up.

Before long, he became immersed in the delicious food.

But as he ate, a tiny human-shaped shadow suddenly appeared before his eyes. It was struggling inside the plate, begging Li Yan to spare it.

He also heard what sounded like a human cry for help in his ears.

Li Yan lowered his chopsticks and stopped eating.

The moment the smiling owner saw this, his temper suddenly turned violent.

He rushed to Li Yan’s side and roared, “Keep eating! Keep eating! These are delicacies I prepared especially for you. How can you refuse to eat them?”

With that, he seized Li Yan by the head and slammed it into the plate.

Blood began to flow from Li Yan’s battered forehead.

What a lunatic, Li Yan thought.

He struggled with all his strength, but the owner’s strength was simply overwhelming.

For the moment, he could not break free.

He secretly searched for the dagger with one hand, then, while the owner was distracted, drove it into his body.

Blood poured from the owner’s wound.

Yet he did not release Li Yan.

He seemed incapable of feeling pain and continued pressing Li Yan’s head down with all his strength, refusing to let him lift it from the plate.

Li Yan cursed inwardly, “What the hell is wrong with this guy?”
